In a world of go, go, go – (for me) it feels almost impossible to be still. Being still, being quiet feels wrong because there’s always something we could be doing. Whether it’s working, doing the dishes, cleaning my car, running errands, planning my life, brainstorming business ideas, even watching TV feels better than doing nothing! WHY is it impossible for us to just SIT in silence? ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I’ve been learning and feeling encouraged by the prayer of examen. If you’re unfamiliar you should read about it. Certainly yoga may produce a more relaxed state, a less agitated mind, but there is the inherent danger of getting increasingly stuck in the subject-object relationship. Yoga, or any other technique, should be pursued only with the understanding that there’s NOTHING to attain.
