I made shorts ! I never thought I’d have the patience to try to fit anything on my bottom half because I always assumed I was shaped funny. I guess I was being too hard on myself because aside from grading between sizes (Which is a fairly common adjustment), I didn’t need any other adjustments. They are more snug than I’d like, but c’est la vie. They still look pretty okay I think. Captain Marvel WIP! OMFG YOU GUYS!! It worked!! . I’m gonna cry ❤️ . If you’ve been following this build, you’ve seen the other WIPs of how I used silicone painted on fabric to make the stripes and the star as flat as possible. I topstitched the pieces with a stretch stitch on my @janomeamerica which went through the fabric/silicone like butter. . SWIPE FOR MORE CRAZY LOOKING WIPS... including my@new installment of “how much blue tape does it take to secure that star?!” . . Next is figuring out how best to attach the gold trim to the collar and the suit. I’m not sure I’ll use the same method or not. Never before did I make four tops within a very short time. That was insane and somewhat stressful. I was ready to throw in the towel after 3rd top (from sheer exhaustion).....but because we agreed on family photo and I didn’t want to disappoint anyone so...I pushed myself. I did it in the wee hours before we left for the airport. Crazy!!! Would I do it again? N O!! I am that kind of person to enjoy sewing and not rush through it all. Originally, I was planning to use different blue fabrics for my mom, but I wasn’t feeling it. Meaning they didn’t feel right for my mom. I looked at my stash to see what would work and hoping something would pop up and say “choose me”. Well, this floral fabric did. I wondered how I missed it the first time. Boy! Am I glad! My mom loves the top. Because I changed the fabric for my mom, that meant I had to frantically look and see what I can find for my sisters and myself. Got plenty of purple!! They sure complemented my mom’s top nicely in our family photo (see previous post). . Pic 1-2) My mom wearing classic top in Spun Poly. Super easy to sew. Loved it. Made my skills look better, thanks to this fabric. . Pic 3-4) Linda wearing the classic v-neck top in Double Brushed Poly. Super soft and stretchy (like leggings). . Pic 5-6) Janice wearing basic low crew neck top in Rayon Spandex. Soft and thin. It’s ideal for warmer weather. Sorry, @jgfab07, you had to wear it in the unexpectedly cold weather. . Finally finished! I made a wearable muslin using the @colettepatterns Magnolia dress hacked with an added circle ⭕️ skirt and no sleeves! You can see more of the dress by swiping left . . The pattern is fabulous and the sba tutorial was so helpful! With the circle skirt I HAD TO TWIRL ⭐️ the muslin was really great quality found at @joann_stores ( it has a fab hand) and was such a great buy! I used aurifilthread 40wt 3ply on my Janome serger for the higher speeds. The 50wt breaks frequently so I cannot recommend it at all. Sewing garments in my 50’s has been so empowering! My shape, the way I feel about my size it so much better now that I understand that NO ONE is a off the rack! You want to feel better about your one of a kind gorgeous self, start sewing for YOU ❤️
