Do you want your closet to look like this? It can if you follow The Scripted Closet method!
Sorting your clothes by garment doesn’t work. Each day you still have to think about what you are going to wear. That is stressful and takes a lot of time. Even worse, you often don’t feel very good in what you are wearing.
The key to The Scripted Closet method is the tags and the dividers. With these simple tools I organized these outfits in 5 hours. Now when I get dressed each day I will do so quickly and stress free. More importantly, I will feel confident in each outfit that I wear!
Link to my book and information on upcoming classes is in bio.

Today I spent 2 hours and finished organizing my wardrobe using The Scripted Closet method. Yesterday I worked for 5 hours. In 7 hours I have 3 weeks of complete outfits to get me through the spring/summer!! I have a total of 4 racks of clothes. Two racks are my clothes for this season. One rack is my winter clothes. One rack is everything I am going to donate. EVERY garment you see on these racks is assigned to an outfit! I feel stress free when I think about getting dressed for any occasion. I’m ready! Hey, I’m even excited thinking about what I’m going to wear in the coming days!! I’m telling you all, this system is life changing!!

Happy Sunday!
In the book ““Minimalism”, Ryan Nicodemus tells the story of how he packed everything he owned and left it in his house for three weeks. At the end of the three weeks, he only kept the items he had taken out of the boxes.
I borrowed the three-week philosophy from Ryan and used it for my book “The Scripted Closet”. I believe it you have three weeks of complete outfits for each season that is enough clothing.
Now that I have built my outfits, for the next three weeks I am going to show you pics of my clothing every day.
I will also tell you three things:
1. How long it took me to get dressed.
2. What was my stress level when getting dressed.
3. How do I feel and/or any other thoughts about my looks for the day.
These are the things that I want to convey to you more than I want you to tell me I look cute in my outfit. Yes, I want to look and feel nice, but that is the byproduct of following my method.
The pics you see are of all the clothing I own. I hang my clothes by outfit, that gives me one less thing to think about while getting dressed. I don’t feel deprived but it also isn’t a large amount of clothing. It’s just right for me. So, stay tuned for all my looks, I hope it inspires you to give my system a try!

DAY 1 OF 21
I wore three looks.
For the first, I volunteered in my daughter’s class for a paper maché project. I wanted to wear something that I didn’t mind getting dirty. This outfit worked.
1. Time get dressed? Two minutes.
2. Stress level (1-10 scale) Zero
3. How did I feel about my outfit? I felt comfortable and warm. I wasn’t stylish but comfort and being okay with getting dirty was the priority.
The second outfit was from my “work” category. I taught a class on The Scripted Closet method and I wanted to look professional.
1. Time to get dressed? Seven minutes. This outfit took longer because of the weather. It was raining today, which is not a normal occurrence in May in Southern California. Where is my sunshine!! I have a great pair of rain boots that I don’t get to wear often so I switched up my outfit so I could wear these boots.
2. Stress level: Three – still low but higher than it would have been if the weather had cooperated.
3. How did I feel about my outfit? I liked this outfit, but didn’t love it. If I had wanted to spend more time, I could have looked through my closet a little longer to find an outfit that I loved with my fun rain boots. I was willing to sacrifice how much I liked it to save some time and stress.
The third outfit is from my “pajamas” category. Yes, I even assign my pjs a category!
1. Time to get dressed? Two minutes.
2. Stress level: Zero
3. How did I feel about my outfit? I felt comfy in my pjs!
A great byproduct of my system is since I have fewer clothes and they are so well categorized, I am more inclined to stay organized because I know where everything goes. When my clothes are not in order, I can’t think about what to do with them so all my clothes land in a pile by the end of the week. With my system there little to no clutter for me to deal with over the weekend. Which means I can spend my weekend doing things I enjoy rather than chores!

DAY 3 OF 21
Outfit 1: Double Duty. I was helping in my daughter’s class again today so I wanted to be casual. I was teaching a class right after volunteering so I wanted to look appropriate to teach. This outfit worked. Jeans, a nice casual top, casual jacket and low heel boots.
1. How long did it take me to get dressed? Three minutes. I was running late in the morning and while in the shower, I momentarily stressed about what I was going to wear. Then I remembered that I had already set my outfit for the day. Goodbye stress, hello relief and a big fat smile!!
2. What was my stress level while getting dressed? (1-10 scale) Zero!! My outfit was ready and waiting so I had nothing to stress about!
3. How did I feel about my outfit? I felt put together enough to teach a class but not overly done where I would be over dressed for my daughter’s classroom. This outfit was a success for what I had to do today.
Outfit 2: Pajamas!
1. How long did it take me to get dressed? One minute. I usually wear the same pajamas for two nights so there was no thought involved in this.
2. What was my stress level while getting dressed? (1-10 scale) Zero!! I’m wearing pajamas what is there to be stressed out about!!!
3. How did I feel about my outfit? Cozy, tired, ready to sleep!
Comments about today:
I didn’t change today. I had planned to bike but some changes occurred in my schedule so I only wore one outfit today, although I had planned another look. It is much easier to have an outfit prepared and not need it than to need an outfit and not have it prepared. Today’s wardrobe challenge was a success!

DAY 4 OF 21
The unexpected cold and rainy weather has thrown off the wardrobe that I selected to wear for this week. It is not difficult nor do I have to put much thought into an alternative outfit since all my clothes are organized by look.
OUTFIT 1: I volunteered in my daughter’s class and was teaching afterwards so I wanted to wear something that would work for both activities.
1. HOW LONG DID IT TAKE TO GET DRESSED? Three minutes. It’s still cold and rainy. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE WEATHER IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA?Now I’m getting cranky. This outfit was set with a cute pair of shorts. That wasn’t going to work today so I swapped the shorts for jeans and my rain boots. Yes, those are waterproof rain boots!!
2. WHAT WAS MY STRESS LEVEL? 2. Swapping out jeans and boots was a quick switch. It wasn’t necessarily stressful but I had to think about what to wear.
3. HOW DID I FEEL? I felt fine. It is a good basic outfit, very typical of what I would wear every single day if I didn’t organize my closet using The Scripted Closet method.
OUTFIT 2: I went biking with one of my @trail.angels friends. We saw so many deer tonight, it was amazing! My time in nature grounds me. Get outside people!!
1. HOW LONG DID IT TAKE TO GET DRESSED?
Two minutes. I had to add arm and leg warmers to this cute bike kit. Ugh where is my sunshine?
2. WHAT WAS MY STRESS LEVEL? No stress when I’m about to hit the trails. It’s all fun and excitement!
3. HOW DID I FEEL? I LOVE this kit from @hyperthreads and @wattage_cottage. It is comfortable, fits like a glove and you will DEFINITELY be able to find me if I get lost!!
OUTFIT 3: Bed time! I always sleep well after a bike ride and a nice hot shower.
1. HOW LONG DID IT TAKE TO GET DRESSED?
One minute.
2. WHAT WAS MY STRESS LEVEL? Zero!!
3. HOW DID I FEEL? Warm and cozy.
