College Football News (Temple): Temple head coach Rod Carey says Anthony Russo's soft tissue injury is good. Earlier this summer, Temple redshirt junior quarterback Anthony Russo was reportedly dealing with a soft tissue injury and head coach Rod Carey has said that Russo's injury is good and is ready to go for fall practices which open up on Friday. Temple is transitioning to a whole new style of offense as they will be coached under first-year head coach Rod Carey and his offensive coordinator Mike Uremovich. Temple plays Bucknell week one on August 31st. CFB News: Former Washington Huskies redshirt freshman QB Colson Yankoff has transferred to UCLA. Colson Yankoff is a former four-star recruit to Washington. During his tenure at Washington, he sat out of the entire 2018 season and looked to compete for the starting job in 2019. The Huskies have a solid core of up and coming quarterbacks like starter Jacob Eason and Jake Haener. Yankoff was probably looking at starting as a third string quarterback in 2019 with Washington. Now, officially a UCLA Bruin, Yankoff can play immediately in 2019 after sitting out in 2018. According to the Detroit Free Press's Dave Birkett, he does not expect CB Teez Tabor to be a lock for the Lions 53-man roster. Teez Tabor is currently working with the Lions first-team defense as Darius Slay is not participating at camp as he looks to land a new contract with the Lions. This offseason, Tabor has been working with Chad Johnson in Florida during the offseason to get better and Lions head coach Matt Patricia has commented saying that Tabor "He’s still a young player, and he’s really attacked that from an aspect of going at it with a fresh set of eyes. On the field, I think he’s really trying to improve his technique, and he’s really trying to play patient." CFB News: The Athletic's Tyson Alger writes that Oregon State RS. Senior quarterback Jake Luton "hasn't officially been named starter but, look for him to win the job." During spring practices, Luton has been battling with RS. MLB News: Seattle Times reporter Ryan Divish has confirmed that the Seattle Mariners have agreed to terms with 2019 1st round selection George Kirby. George Kirby, 21, was drafted with the 20th overall pick out of Elon this past Tuesday in the first round of the 2019 MLB Amateur Draft. George Kirby's 20th selection holds a 3.124 million slot which could be right in the ballpark of what his deal will be with the Mariners. At this point, the deal is yet to be disclosed. MLB Trade: The San Francisco Giants acquired OF Alex Dickerson from the San Diego Padres in exchange for RHP Frankie Van Gurp. Dickerson was designated for assignment by the Padres last week after batting .158 in 12 games this season. The Giants are a outfield desperate and struck a deal with the Padres for his services. As for Van Gurp, he was the Giants 25th round selection in 2017 and has been as high as Double-A for the Giants. CFB Transfer: Former Virginia Tech Hokies kicker Jordan Stout has announced on his Twitter that he has transferred to Penn State. Jordan Stout, a red-shirt sophomore, played in 3 games last season for the Hokies and was phenomenal on kickoffs having a touchback percentage of 84.5%. Also, he was perfect on extra-points going 3-3 but he did miss his lone field goal attempt last season. CFL League News: After 18-seasons split between all nine CFL teams, quarterback Kevin Glenn has announced his retirement from football (Per: Rod Pederson). Yes, what I said above is true. Kevin Glenn is the first player in CFL history to have played for every Canadian Football League team. A CFL Lifer, Kevin Glenn began his CFL career back in 2001 when he signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders where he will spend his first two years in the league with. Fast forward to 2018, Kevin Glenn served as the backup for the Edmonton Eskimos for Mike Reilly, Glenn did not see any game-time in 2018. Kevin Glenn retires from the CFL with career totals; 52,867 passing yards, 294/207 TD-INT ratio, 63.2% completion percentage and a quarterback rating of 90.8%.
