And so, two weeks as an Artist-in-Residence at the Chateau d’Orquevaux officially begins. France, you are quite a beauty ✨ //
My studio is setup, my bedroom is cozy, there are endless bright yellow flower fields, and endless croissants. I’m stoked about it all //
P.S. These two weeks will be extra interesting as I got sick just days before leaving, and I’ve officially lost my voice and have a horrible cough. Thank goodness for endless tea with honey and that painting doesn’t require talking
Let the warmth of the early morning light sink into your bones. Let its quiet, comforting presence give your soul rest and your eyes direction before the world attempts to do so for you. Let the morning light lead you.
And then become the light;
become a lighthouse ✨ //
Become the light that others need when they are too weary to seek it in the dark, or don’t know where to look. Share your light and keep sharing and sharing, because you know this light is endlessly abundant and ever-present. It’s purpose is not to draw into itself, but to be positioned outward toward others to draw them to its source.
And because you know the source, beginning each morning soaking in its light, you get to be a lighthouse for others in their darkness of night, leading them home.
Thank God for morning light.
“A lighthouse doesn’t save the ships; it doesn’t go out and rescue them. It’s just this pillar that helps guide people home.” - Lea Michele
My beautiful friend @libertegrace called me a lighthouse the other day, and her words meant so much. Learning what it means to be a lighthouse for others is worth the time and energy spent standing firm in the dark for the source of my Light //
I love the boldness and life that effortlessly and immediately exists in the raw beginnings of a work in progress //
I am so excited about this body of work I’m in the midst of. I’ll be creating the majority of it during my Artist-In-Residency that is coming oh, so soon.
Still can hardly believe I’ll be on a plane heading to France in just 9 days! My artist heart is bursting, friends!! //

When asked what I'm most proud of about my art career so far, I simply have to say, "Myself!" It's not easy to put something as personal as your artwork out there for the world to judge, and it's not easy find the motivation to keep pushing through creative blocks, or a sales slump, or negative feedback. And it's also not easy to be brave and say yes! when intimidating opportunities arise! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I am easily enchanted by new hobbies and interests, but after a few months (if that!) I usually lose interest. Deciding to invest huge amounts of time, money, and even a chunk of my house into my art was actually a huge risk given my past behavior. But I'm sticking to it. And I love it! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Pictured above is a recent proud moment. My painting "Lion" was selected to be featured, along with nine other artists, in the 2019 Art in the Sky project sponsored by @artscouncilgl and @adamsoutdoorlansing ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Getting to see him up close and personal.... and so much larger than life.... is so surreal! He will be around town all year. As far as I know he is still on Northbound Waverly Road, immediately south of 496. Send me pictures if you go #lionspotting !
