Imperfective and Perfective Aspects ⠀ The Russian verbs has 3 tenses and 2 aspects. Aspects describe different qualities of an action- it is either acting (the process of doing something- Imperfective) or the result of an action (after someone has finished doing something- Perfective). Using Perfective/Imperfective depends only on the intention of the speaker to emphasize different aspects of action in his or her speech. ⠀ Завтра я буду готовить торт. I'll be making a cake tomorrow (Imperfective). ⠀ Завтра я приготовлю торт. I will make a cake tomorrow (Perfective). ⠀ That's why the Perfective can be used only in the Past or Future Tense, since the result can be either reached in the past, or will be reached in the future. If you need to say that the process of doing something is necessary and important then use the Imperfective. The Perfective aspect of Russian verb is formed from the Imperfective by using different prefixes and suffixes. ⠀ ▫️ДЕЛАТЬ (Imperfective) ⬇️Я делаю это сейчас. I'm doing it now. Я делаю это каждый день. I do it every day. ⬅️Вчера я это не делал. I didn't do it yesterday. Я делал это в течении двух часов. I was doing it for 2 hours. ⠀ ▫️СДЕЛАТЬ (Perfective) Ты сделал это? Have you done it? ⠀ Я этого не сделал. I haven't done it. ⠀ ‍♀️Я не успела это сделать. ‍♀️I had no time to do it.
