We had a great day celebrating Mom and Dad’s 50th Anniversary. It was awesome seeing people I have not seen in years. Hundreds of people attended. Hours of hearing from people telling us how wonderful our parents are and how Mom & Dad were integral/transformational people in their lives. Feeling blessed to have parents with a legacy of changing lives for the better. #grateful365
On June 21, 1969 my mom and dad were married in Streator, Illinois. The pastor at Streator Episcopal Church, Rev. Boswell, and my grandpa, Rev. William A. Hammitt officiated the service. ❤️

It was her idea to go to the beach this morning... so glad I LISTENED, cuz it was ALL callin my name (insert: calls and texts to return, case notes, dentist appts, TIDYING UP , and all the rest— it WAS Monday after all). Instead we hit pause, and the two of us walked to the beach ⛱☀️
.
Note to self and anyone who could use this kind of reminder today... the list will never be complete. Some days find more progress than others, but really we just have to shift the priorities and keep #whatmattersmost at the forefront of our brains. And... it ain’t easy, so remember #progressnotperfection

I use to think that having an autistic son meant not being a part of it all. We couldn’t do parties, or funfairs, or go to the park with the ball
-
Those early years, the journey was hard, both for him and for me. But as always we are here to listen, to learn, to grow. Nowadays, the worries that once bothered me, have of course been replaced with new things and more. But here is what I know
-
Sometimes, the thing that we think is going to cause the most heartache, can also cause the most joy. The outskirts of the park where you sit and quietly pick daises, the parties for one become suddenly fun. And there are funfairs aplenty, when they do something incredible, that you didn’t think they would do
-
He’s taught me a lot, this boy of mine, far more than I could ever hope to teach him. But the main thing he’s shown me, is this
-
To enjoy the scenic route and the less busy side of the road. Because you will stumble upon paradise and how could I not, with him by my side

Yesterday, a bright light named @jennifernaraki went home. She is finally, eternally free. My kids were painting at the table when I read the news. I spent the majority of the day reflecting on her life, listening to music (@johnboymusic), reading her words, and feeling both the heartbreak of her death and the joy of her beautiful life. I had only met her once, but I will never forget her.
Throughout her cancer journey, she was so transparent, so full of grace. She shared the good, the bad, and the ugly with her followers and never wavered in her faith. Her wild love for Jesus and her family — and for life itself — was awe-inspiring. I love how she loved people and how she loved music. And oh, her words. Her words were like food to my soul. They changed me. They really did. I see things differently because of her, because of Jesus in her. She had peace in the midst of massive pain. I encourage you to scroll through her feed; you won’t be the same.
Jen, you have inspired me to rise up and live my life with more love, more wildness, more exuberance, more grace. Thankyou. For living each day with eyes and heart wide open and for teaching us to do the same. Your legacy will live on. I’m rising up with my whole heart today. ❤️ (I just had to have a pic with this joyfilled mural by Vancouver artist @druvid)
We have been talking about life intentionally in our YouTube channel series. There’s one important detail that we don’t want you to miss. To live an intentional life, you have to live in the present. All we have is the here and now. That’s why we say do things now. It’s the only time we have to do them. “You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment." - Henry David Thoreau

Happy May!
This photo was taken on one of my favourite April days. I bought a beautiful handmade beaded necklace and woven colourful bag from this indigenous market. With my bad Spanish the lovely Guambiano lady told me the meaning behind the colours of the bead. The black was the earth, the blue the sky and water and the purple being their people. I love the beautiful crafts from around the world. Especially the textiles and accessories!
Travelling is such a wonderful opportunity to learn about other people and cultures! I can tick off one of this year's big goals ☑️ Travelling and being away gave me a lot of time to think. A time to be around people (we stayed with family) and a break from our normal day to day rituals and habits. A time with a lot less tech (limited WiFi) and more time to enjoy and engage with the surroundings.
As a visitor everything catches your eye and delights or fascinates, but I can imagine those living the day in and day out there no longer notice and marvel at those things.
I take it for granted I live in/close to London, the sights I saw every day on my bus ride into Oxford Street when I live in Elephant and castle I definitely took for granted. I'd moan about the traffic and forget the wonder that I'd just crossed Waterloo bridge, seen the IMAX, the Southbank, big Ben, houses of parliament, 10 downing Street, Trafalgar Square, Regents street all on my way into work.
It's funny how that happens, that familiarity.
My trip has changed me. I'm questioning what it is I want from life again (always a good thing). Things I didn't appreciate seem more important now. Things that seemed important, not so much. I think that's one of the benefits of travel, it's stretches and grows you.
Before my trip I had my goals ready for May, but now I feel like I'm almost starting again. So I've got a clean slate and taking my time to consider what direction I'd like to go in.
Life is a winding journey, we change and grow. Never let yourself get stuck by a goal or something you wanted previously. It's ok to change your mind!
What trip you've taken has changed you the most? What life lesson did you learn?
Finishing up our day 1 of our 2 day cleanse this week! Feeling very thankful that we have an infrared sauna to help aide us during our cleanse days and our 30 day detox!
Infrared saunas have so many health benefits, including weight loss, detoxification, pain relief, etc. If you’re having trouble losing weight, have a lack of energy, are sick, or suffering from a chronic disease or condition, toxin accumulation is contributing to the problem. Infrared sauna therapy is one of the safest and most powerful ways to eliminate toxins and increase your overall health.
Although the human body is known to be accommodating, ecological alterations are now occurring at a faster rate than our bodies are able to adapt. We are now faced with a situation where inadequacies or uncertainties centering around the manufacturing, use, storage, and disposal of toxic chemicals have resulted in an overwhelming number of environmentally induced illnesses. These illnesses include cancers of almost every organ system of the body, liver disease, pulmonary damage, nervous system disease, immune system damage, reproductive and fertility impairment, and kidney dysfunction.
Scientific evidence shows that thousands of drugs, food additives, pesticides, and other pollutants remain stored in the body long after exposure. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, everyone has 700 chemicals on average in our bodies, while babies have 70 on average. When toxins are not excreted from our body, they accumulate in our fat tissue and do ongoing damage. It’s one of our body’s defense mechanisms to keep toxins away from the vital organs. The heat stress of a sauna is an effective method of removing fat-stored toxins from the body.
Detoxification is a life-long process. We are constantly bombarded with chemicals in our air, food, and water. If you don’t make an effort to detox these chemicals out of your body, they will inevitably manifest as a disease or chronic health condition depending upon your genetic susceptibility. Since, you have been building up a lifetime of chemicals in your body, it will take you one to three years to completely detox! #sunlighten
