The infamously controversial, Power Snatch:
So first of all, this is not in any form an attempt to defend the snatch shown above as a power OR make any definitive statements on what constitutes as a Power Snatch. But here’s what I’ve learned:
The Power Snatch can be defined in several ways according to different disciplines:
A) Receiving the bar AT or ABOVE the parallel position to be defined at the hip crease relation to the knee.
B) Receiving the bar in a position with the legs above parallel
C) Receiving and stopping the downward progress of the bar before the full-squat depth with no more than a 90 degree angle at the knee
So the definition of a Power Snatch will be determined by what the goal of the workout is: learning a basic form of the snatch, training a more aggressive pull under the bar or a more assertive receiving position, or even just a lighter training day.
