In the past year I’ve been making a conscious effort to shop more mindfully. The fast fashion industry is a huge source of pollution and consumes water on an unbelievable scale. Though I do pop into the mall every now and then, this kind of consumerism is not sustainable. As I continue to slowly minimize my (mass produced) belongings, purchasing on-trend is something I am actively removing myself from. They just don’t make ‘em like they used to ‍♀️ . So, in the past year I’ve been focusing on purchasing quality items from carefully curated vendors. I now make a point to select shops that upcycle, and give new life to quality garments, furniture and decor. I’ve even gone hunting on my own. Let me tell you, finding a gem in what seems like an overwhelming array of everything is so gratifying. Do you ever feel like sometimes moments are too beautiful or special to properly capture ? I know I’ve spent so much time taking a million photos of a flower, only for the photo to do it an injustice. . Lately, I’ve been finding quirky, ordinary things the most beautiful of all. The way the sun shines on a half dead bouquet, the shallow indents left after you’ve blown out a candle. The small things; like someone’s handwriting or admiring an outfit. These are all things to be appreciated. . Now, I present to you an unconventional, yet very realistic photo of myself getting ready. I don’t wear makeup much anymore, so it’s become special to me. I’m also a bit out of practice, and can’t seem to get close enough to the mirror... so I sit in the sink. I know it’s strange, but it’s also funny. Everyone has their personal little idiosyncrasies, and that’s wonderful. ✨
