On the 5th day of the pool job, we had a patio, steps and pool house pad to pour. The patio sits on top of one of the retaining walls we poured and connects to existing. The steps were the most time consuming of all the concrete we did on this job. Luckily, the elevation change from pool to patio was so close that I just had to rip the very bottom step board about 1/4”. We also pick up the paddle mixer and get everything ready for an early start on putting in pool base on the fourth day. This is the time lapse of Monday, our first day actually working on the pool. This represents work from 12 - 6:30 that day. Had we been there a couple hours earlier, we would have poured the footings after standing the pool panels. (We poured the driveway, patio and some sidewalk that morning.) What we do in less than one day is what most pool installers here are doing in several days. It's deceiving in the video, but there is a TON of work going on here. We final shave the sides of the deep end by hand. All of the panels have to be secured front and back with both wood stakes, rebar pins and big plastic stakes for the braces. Everything about a pool is time consuming. Having the right equipment is key. VOLUME UP. I didn’t know that I caught this banter between @stclark816 and @tommy.clark.9655 on my GoPro until yesterday. They were mouthing back and forth about who was doing what at the pool and equipment maintenance. Pretty normal stuff really. We’ve had a rough 8 months with our equipment. Our Case 450 went down last September and we got it back in December. Then in March, with less than 20 hours into it, it went down again on the first basement of the year. We’re supposed to get it back this week, but it’s been rough with all this rain and mud only having the 1845C. We’ve also had a few issues with our Hyundai excavator. First, the fuel pump, then worn track parts and now it’s idling up all on its own. We’re pretty ready for the equipment issues to stop for a while. ‍♂️ Anyway, broom finish for the pool deck. Yes, we broom them. No, it’s not slick finish. We will wait a little longer than we normally do for a sidewalk or driveway. Water + kids = slip hazard every time. POOL INSTALL ‍♂️‍♂️ Day 4 Started off the day at 5am with putting the pool base in. It’s a lightweight concrete like mix that supports the liner when the pool is full. That took us about 4.5 hours. Next, we put the vinyl liner in and set up two shop vacs to suck the air out and pull the liner back. Then started filling with water. That took us about 45 minutes. Then, we formed the upper patio, a pool shed pad and the steps from patio to pool. We left at 3pm. It ended up being 90 degrees today and as you can see, we have direct sun all day. Both of our guys made it all day with no issues. Finally.
