Basically he was a builder, and he built most of the fancy parts of Belgravia, Pimlico and some of Bloomsbury, as well as the eastern front of Buckingham Palace and part of the Thames Embankment. He was also the great-great-great-grandfather of Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall (who knew?). Five and a half years ago I walked into this room, having just viewed a flat I thought I might be able to call my own in London. I’m ninety percent sure that knowing this pub would be within walking distance made up half my decision to move there.
