⚓️Capitol Island adventures⚓️Capitol Island is 700 feet at its’ widest and less than a mile long with insane cliffs and a rickety bridge. Founded in 1870 with tents, then 80 cottages, and later developed to include tennis and croquet courts, a casino, hotel, and post office. The footbridge was widened in 1950 to accommodate cars, but I would not attempt this during busy summer months. It’s a cool little island off an even cooler larger island. Capitol Island is a historical gem with many cottages from 1870 still intact. A historic slice of heaven in Midcoast Maine even on foggy mornings.
