I finished the blog post I was sweating over a few days ago and I can’t wait to share the series in a few short days! While I am thankful for the encouragement, support and advice for this amazing #writerscommunity, I was reminded the other day about how powerful our own stories are. I got a text from a neighbor trying to connect me to a dear friend of hers who had just gotten diagnosed with #preeclampsia. I know how anxious she is, how scared of what her baby is going to go through. It sucks. It’s frustrating. But to know that someone else understands? That’s comforting... So I wrote a short version of my story. One day, perhaps, I’ll pick up the children’s book outline that’s under all the other drafts and unfinished poems. One day, I can talk to someone about my full poetry collection about identities. But for now, may I find contentment in that my story - however repetitive and hard it is - continues to find comfort in someone else. After all, isn’t that why some of us write? To inspire others? To let someone know that they are not alone? . .
