Heading into the new year I am rejoicing and grateful for all the outpouring of love & support for Jon! Each and everyone of you have touched both of our lives more than I will ever be able to express. We wouldn’t be where we are today without ALL the words of encouragement, prayers, support, love, and donations. I want to apologize if you have messaged, emailed, texted or called and I haven’t responded. I promise I have the best of intentions, but, at the end of the day my energy is zapped. Even so, I read each of your messages. Doing so definitely lifts my spirits and reassures me that Jon’s prayer warriors are hard at work.
Brief update: September 25th Jon was transferred to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta GA to continue inpatient rehabilitation. Since arriving he has experienced many ups & downs but, at the same time, Jon is still healing and fighting hard. Recently I have noticed that Jon’s awareness has improved and his ability to understand spoken language has increased. Previously Jon was thought to have global Aphasia. Now, Jon is classified as having expressive Aphasia. Jon still struggles with the inability to communicate in any form. Trust me the team has tried everything.
Right now we are experiencing two challenges...the inability to express himself and agitation. Jon suffered a lot of damage to his frontal lobe. As a result, his ability to control his feelings is impaired. The frontal lobe damage combined with the inability to express himself is causing behavioral issues. These issues interfere with his ability to perform up to his abilities in therapy. The doctors believe if the behavioral issues can be eliminated, Jon has great potential. I really believe that Jon is frustrated because he can’t communicate his thoughts, needs, pain and wishes. Jon has a lot to say and tries so hard. My heart hurts as I watch him try to express himself each and everyday. I can’t imagine how he is feeling.
I really believe that 2018 will be a year of Miracles from the Lord. He has big plans for Jon. Stay tuned as we watch the Lord work through Jon. “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” Romans 12:12

Day 279
Though this Christmas will be spent a bit differently than anticipated, I feel at peace knowing that there is a lifetime ahead. This chapter in our lives is just that, a short part of the whole journey of life. More than anything, I am thankful to have Jon still here with me.

Thinking about miracles: is anyone else a sucker for @hallmarkchannel Christmas Movies? I am. I told my good friend the other day I am starting to believe I need to tell Santa what I want for Christmas. So my Christmas miracle can happen. She replied by saying I should go sit on Santa’s lap and tell him. I haven’t had the chance to do that, but I am going to be completely honest. I feel God has big plans for Jon this Christmas. Just in the past couple of days I feel a shift. Not sure how to describe it just yet, but I promise to keep you all updated. I believe God has big plans for Jon!
