We can use mindfulness to familiarise ourselves with anxiety-inducing thoughts.

By sitting with these thoughts in non-judgemental awareness, without acting on them, focussed on breath, we discover that our anxious thoughts are not real.

Anxious thoughts are generally a projection of a possible future scenario or the dwelling in a no-longer existing past. In the present moment experience these things do not matter.

On mindfulness meditation retreats, one of the most common breakthroughs people have is the realisation that they don’t have to believe their thoughts.

Once you have this awareness, you have the choice on which thoughts to indulge and which to disregard. This can be a life changing revelation.
.
This relieves anxiety in a logical way, but what if you feel anxious for no reason whatsoever? What if your anxiety seems physical and not attached to any specific negative thoughts?
.
Meditation can help with that too. By slowing the breathing and shifting focus to the breath, the nervous system calms down. Stress is purged from the body and replaced with more beneficial endorphins which promote feelings of wellbeing.
