L'abbazia benedettina, fondata nel medioevo, fu totalmente ricostruita al inizio del Settecento sotto la direzione di Jakob Prandtauer, che curò ogni dettaglio. Il progetto fu l'idea del abate Berthold Dietmayr, ma non è un monumento a una sola persona. Invece esprime la gioia e la fede cattolica in trionfo, spirito largamente diffuso dopo lo sconfitto dei turchi a Vienna nel 1683. Qui vediamo una meravigliosa scala a chiocciola che congiunge la chiesa abbaziale con la sua famosa biblioteca. The huge Austrian abbey of Melk had been a medieval foundation, but the eighteenth-century abbot Berthold Dietmayr razed the entire complex to the ground to create the most spectacular expression of the Baroque in Austria. Moved in part by a sense of joy in the physical world created by God and in possibly larger part by the widespread relief following the defeat of the Turks at the siege of Vienna in 1683, the abbot commissioned the architect Jakob Prandtauer to rebuild the huge monastery in one unified style. Anybody else lactose intolerant‍♀️ Apparently, you can either develop it as an adult or have it all along. I don’t know which one am I. I wasn’t really into milk before I moved to Norway. . Last year, I was bedridden for the latter part of the year. So when I was experiencing indigestion, we thought it was because I wasn’t moving nor eating well. . However, since early this year, I have been moving a loooooot and eating right but still experiencing it everyday. Sometimes it would be worse and it affected my work and my life. . When I finally cut off milk and anything with milk in it from my diet, I’m finally able to breathe again. So now I know I’m lactose intolerant and my life will never be the same again.
