#ROTC and #JROTC exhibition drill teams DO NOT want to recover from a drop like this. This is exactly what the SDP is supposed to do after a drop, not necessarily what a high school or college level team should do. Two reasons not to recover like this: 1. JROTC performances are strictly timed and cannot afford the seconds it takes to halt the routine to retrieve the rifle. 2. Stopping the routine destroys the Continuity, Horizontal Flow, and Momentum of the routine.
