Just something I've been thinking about lately. I went to an event last night where there were a lot of questions about intuition and how we can channel it to make decisions that move us closer to our aspirations. I think this has been a big topic in the emotional health and wellness space but I don't necessarily agree with the common message I hear.
Usually, we are told to go with what feels good. Listen to the body. Does it feel expansive or contractive? Does it cause a cascade of excitement and joy? Does it send electricity up your spine and stir butterflies in your belly?
I lived most of my previous life by these principles. How does it feel? My answer was either a full bodied fuck yes or a full body no. The decision was quick and clear. The movement was even quicker.
Then I realized there are two halves to this whole intuition game. The body and the mind. Letting the body lead all the time toward what “feels good” or away from what “feels bad” is one way to stay stagnant in the life we have. Though it feels like movement and truth, it can also just be familiarity and comfort. The mind, needs to stay part of the equation.
Most of the time, the body speaks, then the mind tries to talk us out of it. It’s too risky, too scary, too uncertain. I believe it can work the other way too; the mind decides and the body refuses - wanting to stay safe in its carefully constructed environment. This divide, is the exact moment when you know you’re onto something. The stronger the resistance, the closer you are to your truth. Like a game of hot and cold, you’re starting to radiate with heat.
Leading this way has allowed me to make all of the big decisions (and oftentimes small decisions) in my life from starting a business, moving from New York to Los Angeles to the Bay Area, beginning and ending relationships, writing again, reclaiming my health, and taking back my power.
So in summary, move towards what feels the most expansive, but what also feels the most contractive. The choice that causes the energy to surge and the fear to ensue. That will lead you towards far greater things, and far deeper truths. Intuition stirred with the courage to follow your heart.
A few years ago, when I first moved to the Bay, Ben and I went hiking one day in Larkspur looking for Don Falls. It was a lovely day and we were having the best time, but like many Sundays before it, I had to cut our time short to go teach. I lost count of the amount of events, trips, and just plain quality time I‘ve had to leave early. ⛰⌛️
.
It’s been almost a year since I taught Sun nights and we went back to Larkspur for the first time since that special day. However, instead of rushing back, we had no where to be except together. Of course, I miss my Sunday communities (and I’m still in @yogaworks teacher trainings half the year ♀️) , but for this period in my life, family is first and it feels so good!!!
Thanks ivy for hyping me up yesterday! I was not feeling myself in this dress, but I’m lucky to have friends to always lift me up
.
I’ve been sitting here trying to explain how I’ve been feeling lately and all I can come up with is “mental funk”. I’m going through the motions, I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing, but I realized I haven’t been fueling myself with positivity as much as I should. Which has caused me to be negative towards myself and my appearance. I have been tearing myself down BAD lately. So my goal is to dive into a lot of personal development this week, and get my mind right again
Early morning hot yoga ♂️ class trying to start this week off right ~ I couldn’t encourage anyone more to get involved in a daily yoga practice! Ot is the best way to take care of your body and your mind ... and ESPECIALLY if the thought of going to a hot yoga class makes you uncomfortable, you pretty much have to go in order to push through the discomfort into a better version of you
