Photo by Aaron Huey @argonautphoto | Oglala Nation Pow Wow, Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota. So much beauty... words fail. These images need to have the sound of the drums. This Slain Dragon Throne is fit for a king however the making of this piece for me was a prayer for protection for my loved ones and I kept imaging it to be a safe place to sit and meditate and pray. I kept remembering my grandma Geraldine Ross would sit in her recliner and pray the beads of the rosary. I was told she took time to pray everyday for her whole family, kids, grandkids, in-laws - almost too many people to count without writing them down. And every morning she sat in her recliner praying with this gesture. In that same way it is my hope that whoever ends up with this piece, that every time it is used they release their breath along with a prayer for someone they love. And Special shout out to @whiskeyglassart for helping with horn prep for days and shout out to @firekist for the beautiful fume prep and photo credit goes to @lukewaynemedia. #hicdogg #slaindragons #slaindragon #dragonslayer #glassthrone #throneofglass #headyglass #headiesofig #available #availableglass #hicdoggsdragons #itgoesdowninthedm #oprahsbookclub #oprahswookclub #meditation #meditate #medicate #pray #mitakuyeoyasin
SOUND ON Louie Brings Plenty sends a powerful prayer out over the badlands towards the Stronghold on the #PineRidgeIndianReservation, South Dakota. Stronghold Table was the site of the last Ghost Dances before the Wounded Knee Massacre in 1890, and a protected sanctuary for the Lakota in the battles that followed. #Oglala #Lakota #MitakuyeOyasin

Face the sun. Breathe into your belly. Listen to the rhythm of your heartbeat as it informs you of your next action. Follow it. Say thank you. Repeat.
.
Your life will change. Magic will happen. Your adrenal glands will slow down. Possibilities will emerge as your prefrontal cortex awakens and your amygdala begins to nod off. Your DNA will alter its expression. You will begin to feel a part of rather than apart from.
.
That's what happens when you answer your call. You are not whatever role you've attached yourself to, regardless of how good or bad you think it may be, and you are not a diagnosis. There is every possibility that your medicine is not in the cabinet, but instead in the pharmacy of nature and in the participation of your own becoming.
.
7 out of the 10 leading causes of death in the United States could be taken off that list with some daily commitment to our own dreams. Taking action in alignment with purpose creates healing. A quick search of the neuroimaging or neurocardiology research will bring that to bear.
.
Connecting with nature creates healing. Put your hand on a horse, your feet in a river, your body on the earth, your face in the wind, your lips on the rain, your skin in the sun, your faith in the plants, and your eyes in the stars. These are all you and you are them. They will bring you back to yourself if you’ve strayed or gotten lost.
.
If you don’t know, ask the Earth. Then act on her guidance.

An unpublished photo from my cover story on the Spirit of Crazy Horse. This image was taken around the celebratory races held every June 25 for the commemoration of the victory at the Battle of the Greasy Grass (aka, Battle of the Little Big Horn; aka, Custer's Last Stand), the day the Lakota, Cheyenne, and Arapaho annihilated the Seventh Cavalry.
