I am a FOREVER cat. As we all should be. My mom got me as an 8-9 week old kitten. I was sick, but she had no way of knowing it was going to be a regular thing. I’m expensive. I get sick a lot. I have to be sedated each time I go to the vet because I have “anger management problems” so it costs even more. I’m on prescription diet food and medication. I throw up a lot and Mom has to clean it and sometimes nice things get ruined. Mom has moved a lot and it’s hard to find rentals that allow pets. There’s always an extra deposit, sometimes pet rent. I’ve sent her to the ER and she’s been visited by Animal Control. (oops) She has a few scars from me, one on her face. I’m REALLY not nice to the tiny human. Almost everyone thought she’d get rid of me after the baby came. (Like do they even know her?!) I am insanely jealous of her, even though Mom calls me her #1 girl. Sometimes I lay near the tiny human just to tempt her to touch me and then smack her. I like to lay at the foot of her bed and attack her feet and Mom has to wear oven mitts to get me off the bed.Just tonight I was sleeping at the foot of Mom’s bed and the tiny human was watching a movie on the laptop. A regular occurrence, but Mom had to pee. She was too afraid to leave us alone. If the tiny human got tempted to try to pet me(which she usually doesn’t try anymore) Mom knows I would probably scratch or bite her. Mom says I’m not an easy keeper. But the point of all of this is- I AM NEVER GOING ANYWHERE. No matter what, I am here to stay. Even if I’m mean to the tiny human. Even if I’m mean to EVERYONE. Even if I get sick and need a lot of care. Even when I’m really old one day and maybe don’t always make it to the litter box. Mom says it is a privilege and an honor to take care of me as I get older. Not everyone gets 13+ years with their beloved kitty. It’s sad to know how many cats are in shelters because they got old, or sick, or their humans moved, or had a baby. We are not disposable.
