A vintage dresser, milk glass vase & lamp, a gorgeous vintage print. Each year I compare this season to last years... what were we doing at this time last year? I search for photos that we did in the same month one year ago & guys, global warming is a reality . So, do you know what it makes me want to do? Be more like @ashleeerenewells ♻️ She’s created a space that’s cozy, inviting & most of all it’s being loved AGAIN. That rings true with my mission for these bonnets. Each one has a part of it that’s made from preloved, vintage or donated materials. From what I can make out of this little collection there’s bonnets in there that used to be dresses, one was a curtain, another a bedskirt and one more was actually the lining to a curtain. Our embroidered bonnets, made from vintage linens, are often times lined with other garments linings. Arleen makes sure to never waste a single piece . So while on the surface this business for me is about motherhood, community and sharing our babies, if I dig deep as to why I started all of this it’s because sustainable fashion is in my heart. I was brought up to not buy new if you could fix the old, I wore my older brothers pjs just like Leia wears Elliot’s, & when I wanted to sew something the first thing I grabbed for as material were the sheets off my own bed. . So although at times I do purchase from the world of fast fashion (it’s never all of nothing for me) I feel as though the bonnets we make from preloved clothing every month can balance it out. When you shop with us you’re not only purchasing a hat for your baby but you’re helping me accomplish my ultimate goal which is to save this world from textile waste #onebonnetatatime
