Scientists have recently found new ways to control very small amounts of genes we do have. Its called epigenetic – how changes in gene activity occur without changing our actual DNA. - Nobel Prize winner Elizabeth Blackburn found that a vegan diet caused more than 500 or so genes to change in three months. Not only was it discovered that a vegan diet turned on genes that prevented diseases, but also turned off genes that caused breast cancer, heart disease, prostate cancer, and other illnesses. - We know that telomere length is, for the most part, genetic but it can also be influenced by environmental factors and changes as well as lifestyle choices. - Eating whole plant-plant-based foods and living a healthy lifestyle directly influences telomere length. Also, stress and chronic inflammation are both linked to telomeres becoming shorter. Some things that also contribute to shorter telomeres include chronic stress, obesity, a sedentary lifestyle, smoking, and low socioeconomic status. ⬇️ A study of more than 400 women were randomly separated into four groups: (1) dietary weight loss; (2) aerobics; (3) diet and exercise; (4) control. This diet was a group-based program with a 10% weight loss goal, and exercise intervention was only 45 minutes per day, 5 days a week of moderate to vigorous aerobic activity. - This study took place over the course of one full year. THE RESULTS: There were no changes in telomere length really, which goes to show that dieting is key. Only the diet and exercise group had a positive increase of 0.1%. This is in comparison to only a 3-month study that Ornish and colleagues performed on a vegan diet, where the participants only ate plant-based yet lost the same amount of weight after just three months and exercised less than half as hard. - Why is a plant-based diet so great? Great vegetable consumption, less butter, and more fruit, and foods higher in fiber and vitamins. Basically, it slows the biological aging with lower cholesterol. Also, the key in all of it is to avoid saturated animal fats and unnatural items. - https://www.ucsf.edu/news/2013/05/105701/can-wellness-cure - - --- follow @plantifulfacts --- follow @plantifulfacts - -

I know there are so many options to choose from regarding real food, drinks, and junk food. Some of these foods (usually junk) can contribute to mucus building up in our bodies and make it difficult to breathe or make allergy and asthma symptoms worse. . This list is not exhaustive but is a simple guide to help you understand what foods to avoid or eat less often if you have a problem with mucus and/or have frequent cold-like symptoms. . However, I do use ghee and real butter. The only reason they’re on the list is because they are considered dairy products (even though they have very little milk protein) and can cause mucus in people with asthma or respiratory issues. I always believe when we know better, we can do better. Blue Zones are areas across the globe where people tend to live the longest and have remarkably low rates of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity. - Blue zones are found in five very geographically and culturally different parts of the world. Blue Zone diets are primarily plant-based, with as much as 95% of daily food intake coming from vegetables, fruits, grains, and legumes. - People in Blue Zones typically avoid meat and dairy, as well as soda beverages and processed foods. - It can be deduced that these people are this healthy and live the longest in spite of a little meat, not because of it. - Their macro breakdown also goes against the norm. They eat 65% carbs, 20% fats, and only 15% protein. Meanwhile in America, a meat-heavy, protein obsessed country, we get twice as much protein as optimal and have the highest rates of obesity and disease in the world. - Research and read about blue zones. It's time we eat more plants, ditch the animal products, reduce the processed food, and cut down on protein. - https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamainternalmedicine/fullarticle/2540540 - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6125071/ - - --- follow @plantifulfacts ⚡ - - ️ Stay woke my friends. -
