And then there were 4!!!
Little kit Thomson arrived safely and very speedily last Monday at 2.21am weighing a healthy 7lbs 3. Teddy, Charlie and I are absolutely besotted by baby brother and are enjoying this special time as we get used to being a foursome and generally breathing in that lovely newborn smell!!! A huge thank you to the midwives at the birth centre, Queen Charlotte Hospital for everything you did for us. #nhsheroes
This isn’t about me, it’s about the incredibly wonderful NHS (National Health Service). On Sunday night they (it)saved my life. We live fairly remotely, we thought it would take an ambulance 30 mins to get to us. It arrived in 5! Before I lost consciousness I remember thinking they won’t make it in time.then I came too with an oxygen mask on and a couple of shots of adrenaline. Underfunded and the brilliant health care workers under paid. But my goodness do they do a phenomenal job. I am so grateful to the paramedics they came so quickly and acted so efficiently and compassionately, kind and patient. The wonderful nurses and doctors @leicestershospitals and I’m so grateful that @hansnowayrey was home so that he could make that 999 call, it all happened so fast, I was incapable of anything #nhsheroes #anaphylacticshock #hospital #heroes #heroines #life
You’re going to start thinking all we do is drink tea and eat cake...

After a very busy few months at #RoyalPapworth to get ready for and deliver a safe move to our new hospital, we wanted to bring together as many of our staff as possible and say a massive THANK YOU for their amazing efforts and hard work.

And how better to do that than a big marquee ⛺️, a buffet ☕️, a string quartet and glorious sunshine☀️ for the Royal Papworth Garden Party, organised by @royalpapworthcharity.

It never occurred to me Sandy would end up in PICU - the top-class new @cosmic_charity @imperialnhs Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at St Mary’s hospital in Paddington (which cares for children all around the country) - and yet here he has been, after just one tiny fall at home, and oh how grateful we have been for such specialised care.
•
You’ll be happy to hear he’s OK, his left femur snapped completely in two but now wired back together again, and we hope he’ll be home soon. THANK YOU, my amazing Insta family, for all your wonderful well wishes!
•
It’s weird though how life sometimes comes full circle. Almost ten years ago, after Sandy was born and we were immersed in the care of St Mary’s Hospital’s paediatrics and Westminster’s special needs outreach teams (thankfully the two work hand in hand), I was asked to join a small team of doctors, nurses and two fellow parents to help Paediatrics become recognised as its own charitable entity. •
It has been a long, slow road but finally the St Mary’s Children’s Fund was formed and last year we helped to raise over £2million towards the very PICU now looking after Sandy. And I will always be grateful for the huge generosity of @chepstowhouseschool, thanks to my friends @nicolelaing1 and @suz.briggs, who raised an incredible £200k+ towards the #moresmilesappeal. •
We have always been so grateful for the love and support St Mary’s Paeds has given not only to Sandy but to us, as a family. An amazing team of doctors, nurses, play specialists, physios, OTs, speech and language therapists, nutritionists, dentists, otorhinolaryngologists and audiologists have transformed Sandy’s life, and quite honestly saved our’s. They are the unsung heroes of our community - along with teachers and educational helpers (especially at special needs schools). May you never, ever need PICU, but if you do, be rest assured, you will be in very safe hands. #nhsheroes #keepthenhsalive #stmaryschildrensfund
Thank crunchie it’s Friday, even if the weather isn’t all sunshine and blue skies! Took my bestie for tea and cake (obviously I took lots of cake ) to the home of a lovely guy we met at chemo. He’s facing 16 hour op with only 20% chance of getting rid of his cancer, we will keep positive and I will be forever thankful for our wonderful nhs and all who work within it. #nhsheroes
We love this story sent by a patient, lewis Hine: When I said I was stuck in a hospital bed and sad I couldn’t see the snow I had no idea @GreatOrmondSt would bring the snow to me! Today has been the best day ever THANK YOU please RT this to show the world these amazing #NHSheroes #snowday2018 #Snowman #snowman #dreamcometrue
