FOREST GOBLIN - SPIDER RIDERS After having posted the excellent Forest Goblin figures in my last post @excelinglife asked (quite rightly) "where are the Spider Riders?". So instead of waiting till some future time I thought we would just do the double today and Id show you the Spider Riders. These sculpts are also by Kev Adams. TYRANID SCREAMER-KILLER (& OTHERS) This was mentioned more times than any other when I threw out the question of your favourite model. (Gideon Lorr being a close second) and I can only imagine its nostalgia and humour that has made this sculpt famous because this was maybe not Jes Goodwins finest hour. This huge chunk of metal was the first "carnifex" and is described at the time as "one of the larger bio-constructs". As there is really not much to admire about it, Ive thrown in a few other entries from the Rogue Trader era Tyranid army list from White Dwarf Jan 1992. ADVANCED HEROQUEST CHARACTERS Heroquest was a rip-roaring success for Games Workshop & MB games, and in the same year (1989) GW released a more grown up version for gamers rather than kids/family market, cunningly titled "Advanced Heroquest". These four models were the Player character pieces, although the game had rules for creating any kind of character you wanted, opening up the game to whole of the citadel line of miniatures. For the time, the plastics in the boxset were really good, the Skaven and henchmen were a little static, but the game was designed to provide a rules system that would allow players to utilise their existing collection of Warhammer models to populate dungeons of the Old World for players to rob, er explore. Plenty of adventures were published in White Dwarf magazine and to this day I believe its the best Dungeon bashing campaign system GW have ever created, it is superior to Warhammer Quest in many ways. Those of you interested in skirmish games could do worse than seek out a copy of the rulebook for Advanced Heroquest and give it a go.
