For Valentine’s Day I want to think a little bit about mirror neurons, one of the most exciting concepts in brain development. Babies learn from observing the world: the part of their brain that would light up when they smile lights up when they see YOU smile.. and then they smile too! Much of our social engagement and “gelling” into relationships comes from observing and copying the actions of others: often very subtle, but enough to transmit a sense of grouping or togetherness. Mirror neurons are thought to be involved in social connections, empathy and in romance too. (Love is all biochemistry and neurology, after all, on one level... but you can’t really define love in purely biological terms, given the staggering volume of poetry and music and writing on the subject. It’s something far greater and less tangible than that!) It’s nearly a year since my current profile picture was taken and my tiny baby is not so tiny any more. I’ve also realised that I haven’t shared a photo of Elise on my back in my grid yet! Though if you’ve watched my stories you’ll have seen my progress from early attempt to something much more successful. So, what do we think? We have a beautiful tester wrap with us this week! This is a @firespiral woven wrap called Seaspray and it is beautiful. I came home from work this evening and little lady was teething, overtired and frankly wired .... so after lots of boobing in bed she didn’t settle so I grabbed this and wrapped her. Within minutes of getting her into this wrap she finally relented to sleep. I’m waiting excitedly for @firespiral’s Dryad Cyano (the blue/turquoise/green) Seafoam’s launch in a few weeks time. I had a hard time deciding whether to get Sunset (this gorgeous pink shade) or Cyano. I’m option got Cyano, because it’ll compliment my green glasses beautifully.
