Happy happy happy because I’m finally reunited with the cookbooks that really inspired my love of cooking ⁣ ⁣ I was home for a few days this past weekend, and after a trip to the storage unit I found...well, a lot actually ...My high school yearbook, framed pictures of horses...things of that nature () ⁣ ⁣ But then I saw a big box of books that contained the four cookbooks that my mom bought me from Costco many many years ago. I remember being about twelve or thirteen-ish and pouring over them on Saturday mornings, excited to find a new recipe to make for my family that weekend. ⁣ ⁣ Today the pages are old and stained with olive oil, and chocolate smudges (swoon ☺️) and there’s old weathered Post Its marking recipes that I wanted to try next. It’s like a time capsule, and a physical representation of my early love of cooking. ⁣ ⁣ These books are part cookbook, part history book. And I remember loving the photos of the farmer’s markets, the houses, the European streets, and the way these books incorporated culture and history, along side the recipes. It made me want to travel, see new places, taste new flavors. That was my teenage wanderlust. ⁣ ⁣ If the smile in this pic looks a little forced it’s because it was real the FIRST time we tried to take the picture But the phone froze for a second and so did my smile.. lol but I don’t care. I love this picture and this moment and I’m excited to revisit some of the recipes I loved so many years ago! ⁣ ⁣ When did you guys start cooking? Would you say you love it or is it more of a chore? After Hurricane Maria hit last year, it did a lot of damage to Puerto Rico. The old trail to the Poza and Golondrinas area in Manatí was washed away. We had to take a different route but it was still beautiful nonetheless. The little hike led to a gorgeous secluded beach with a cave. What a wonderful day it was! ☺️ #tracytreks
