Happy Weekend Everyone. Our legendary guitar of the day is BRIAN MAY'S famous The Red Special. The Red Special is the electric guitar designed and built by Queen's guitarist Brian May and his father, Harold, when Brian was a teenager in the early 1960s. They began to work on the guitar in August 1963, with the project taking two years to complete. The Red Special is also sometimes referred to, by May and by others, as the Fireplace or the Old Lady. A guitar that would define May's signature style, it was intentionally designed to feed back after he saw Jeff Beck playing live and making different sounds just by moving the guitar in front of the amp. He wanted an instrument that was going to be alive and interact with him and the air around him. May has used the Red Special almost exclusively, including on Queen albums and in live performances since the band's advent in the early 1970s. The name Red Special came from the reddish-brown colour the guitar attained after being stained and painted with numerous layers of Rustins' Plastic Coating. The name Fireplace is a reference to the fact that the wood used to make the neck came from a fireplace mantel. The neck was constructed from wood from a "hundred-year-old-ish" fireplace mantel that a friend of the family was about to throw away. According to May, there are worm holes in the neck of the guitar that he filled in with matchsticks. Brian still has the guitar and it has been "upgraded" and repaired a few times. ❤

On a day like this the legendary guitarist Mr. PAUL KOSSOFF was born in 14 September 1950 d. 19 March 1976, was an English guitarist best known as a member of blues rock band FREE. He studied Classical guitar by his teenaged years, but upon discovering the British blues-rock movement of the '60s, Kossoff's interest in guitar perked up once again, especially after catching a John Mayall's Bluesbreackers live show with Eric Clapton. At the age of 15 he formed the band Black Cat Bones, the band played with touring blues piano player Champion Jack Dupree, did many supporting shows for Fleetwood Mac and other gigs with Fleetwood Mac co-founder Peter Green. Kossoff had fully blossomed into an outstanding guitarist, renowned for his fluid, slow, and melodic leads and bluesy riffs. After Black Cat Bones brock up Kossoff and band mate drummer Simon Kirke set out to form another group, hooking up with vocalist Paul Rodgers and bassist Andy Fraser, the quartet decided to go by the name Free in 1968. The band released studio albums until the band disbanded in 1973 such as "Tons Of Sobs" in 1969, "Fire And Water" in 1970. By the early 1970s, Free was one of the biggest-selling British blues rock groups. The following year, in 1975 Kossoff formed a band and named it Back Street Crowler after his debut album. Kossoff died from a drug-inducted heart attack at the age of 25. Gone but not forgotten. In this video clip Kossoff performing amazing guitar solo on "FIRE AND WATER" song. "Fire and Water" is the first song from the Free's third studio album of the same name released in 1970.

Ritchie Blackmore, David Gilmour, Brian May, Tony Iommi, Alex Lifeson, and Chris Squire on guitars. Ian Gillan, Bruce Dickinson, Brian Adams, Paul Rodgers on vocals. Keith Emerson, and Geoff Dawnes played on keyboards and Roger Taylor on drums, performing the legendary song "SMOKE ON THE WATER". John Paul Jones and Jon Lord were credited as "helping" behind the scenes with the track. Recording began on July 8, 1989 and was completed over 5 different sessions. Recorded at the historic Metropolis Studios in Chiswick, London. This was recorded for people affected by the Armenian earthquake in 1988. "Smoke On The Water" is a song by the English rock band Deep Purple. It was first released on their 1972 album Machine Head. "Smoke on the Water" is known for and recognizable by its central theme, developed by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. It is a four-note blues scale melody in G minor, harmonised in parallel fourths. The riff, played on a Fender Stratocaster by Blackmore, is later joined by hi-hat and distorted organ, then the rest of the drums, then electric bass parts before the start of Ian Gillan's vocal. Blackmore later claimed that the riff is an interpretation of inversion of Symphony No.5 by Ludwig van Beethoven, and that "owe him a lot of money". It was written by Ritchie Blackmore, Jon Lord, Roger Glover, Ian Gillan and Ian Paice. Enjoy ❤
