Another Free Food Stand in the books! Today we are offering: five types of summer squash, kale, arugula, lettuce, heirloom tomatoes, lemons, two types of cucumbers, flowers, and potatoes! It’s not a ton of food but it’s what we’ve got and I believe the impact of our Free Food Stand goes beyond the quantity of food. I love seeing people drive/walk by and suddenly stop in their tracks and come to the stand with big smiles on their faces. . We have always given our homegrown food away to friends, family, and neighbors, but giving it away to strangers is something different. Taking care of one another and showing strangers kindness at this incredibly divisive time is an act of peace making. This is one of the ways peace can start with each of us. Do what you can with what you’ve got. . This Free Stand is a small thing I can do that brings me joy and meets deep needs to contribute to others. In Nonviolent Communication, contribution is considered a universal human need. I believe it! We get fulfilled when we contribute to others. If you are feeling the blues, go volunteer and help someone else, it may seem counterintuitive but it really does lift the spirits! . How do you create peace in your community?
