I read a quote today that said “Stop buying your kids what you never had and start teaching them what you never knew” . . This really resonated with me. I’ve learned so much through hardship the last few years (learning every single day) and I want my kids to know that pain is inevitable - but the way we react to pain and trials and how we learn from them is a far better lesson than trying to shelter our kids from tribulation and fixing their problems. I appreciate wisdom passed on from my parents and other significant people in my life. I struggle at times with how I react to trials, but I’m learning and changing.

You don’t have to give a damn what the world thinks you should be doing. I spent to much of my journey worrying so much about what others thought I should be doing that I wasn’t focusing enough on what worked for me. So I ate spinach salads, counted my macros to a T, didn’t leave the gym until I felt like I couldn’t walk, and tracked my weight loss. But one day I realized even after losing all that weight - I still felt miserable. I still had anxiety. I still was depressed. And all of a sudden, I realized that being skinny wasn’t the key to my happiness. Because sure I could fit in a smaller pants size but when was the last time had I eaten something that made me feel full and happy? When was the last time I hadn’t gone to bed hungry? When was the last time I enjoyed my workout or didn’t flinch when I stepped on the scale? And after this realization I ate pizza and guess what? The world didn’t end. I woke up the next morning and hadn’t gained 500 lbs. and I realized that I had wasted a good chunk of a couple years obsessing over what I thought I needed to be that I had abandoned who I was. So I made a promise to never let it happen again. You don’t have to give a damn what everyone else is doing. Eat carbs or don’t. Track macros or don’t. Run on the treadmill, lift weights, work out from home... But whatever you do make sure it serves your SOUL just as much as your BODY. Lately I’ve been going to the gym and hitting my workouts HARD. But I’ve also been enjoying my weekends with friends eating pizza and drinking wine. B O T H fulfilled me. Both served me. Both were important for my health. Make sure you take care of your body AND mind today. They’re both important. You’re important. I love you guys
