When I struggle the most with plastic is when I travel and have no access to potable water! I heard that for most of you is the same problem. Somehow I managed to almost avoid single-use plastic bottles for over 24 months now. I’ve been looking for ways to drink water safely, avoid single-use plastic bottles and not carrying with me gallons of water. I found out about @lifestraw quite recently and I think it can be quite useful while traveling! In the picture I tried to show the plastic footprint when traveling for a week using single-use plastic bottles, one gallon (4 liters) water bottle or a portable water filter like @lifestraw. Quite a difference! Have anyone of you tried it already? What do you use when traveling? Any other recommendations? Let’s #pickup1million!

it was too hot to go to the beach (or just be outside in general) today and anytime this happens I feel like I think to myself… “it was never like this when I was a kid” sometimes I don’t know if I was just too young and carefree to notice or if it’s a real valid feeling and climate change is real (it is) and the world is literally on fire AND IT JUST MAKES ME SO SAD AND ANGRY - I get similarly frustrated over “natural” disasters too… heatwave aside… I have fallen way off the wagon for #2minbcphotochallenge9 but trying to hop back on today… (day 20: #goodforthesoul) - I have this really bad habit of accumulating finds and then *not dealing with them* - it’s more fun getting outside and finding stuff than tediously going through the trouble of cleaning/sorting (especially when we are talking literal bits of garbage here and it would be SO much easier to NOT keep any of it… lol). I swear I’m not a hoarder and these will become something some day. ✨ anyways, I spent hours inside today cleaning and sorting a mountain of these colorful broken plastic pieces I’ve been collecting from various beaches over the last few months. I wanted nothing more today than to do something mindless with my hands and stop my brain from spinning out of control — and weirdly, this time consuming cleaning/sorting process felt good for the soul ‍♀️ (also, good for the bathroom sink countertop too )

In general, I collect garbage when I walk, but this was the first time I did it as a full-on activity. In fact, my bucket was already filled within the 5 minutes it took to even walk to the park! I was so shocked about the amount of single-use coffee cup lids I collected.
