Out into the Wild .. the Unknown .. under the Skies of Liquid Green.
I’m so grateful to have the boreal forest at my doorstep and the desire for adventure at my feet. That’s likely how I ended up in Photography in the first place... The thrill of the unknown and desire to capture the beauty of nature that so many can often pass by or not have the privilege to see. Capturing that moment of wild freedom & pure beauty

#NorthernLights, #PolarLights, #AuroraBorealis, this #phenomenon goes by many names. Predominately seen in high-latitude regions of #Earth, this #lightshow is the result of disturbances in the magnetosphere caused by solar wind.

Kutup Işıkları
————————————————————————
Aurora borealis'in görünme olasılığı, kuzey manyetik kutbuna yaklaştıkça artar.

bonfire under magical skies
catching the northern lights was on the top of my list while traveling in norway. after seeing them in iceland a few years back i was excited and hopeful for another opportunity. norway did not disappoint- got to see them every night! two of those nights was with @pukkatravels - if you’re planning to visit norway they have some killer tours
I’ve been living in Alaska for 2 months now (craziness!) and I’ve been chasing the aurora every chance I get. Now that we are at the end of the season, I wanted to make a collection of the best auroras I’ve captured on time lapse.

Aurora Borealis over Lofoten, Norway.⠀
So, what causes this phenomenon?⠀
At the center of the sun, the temperature is 27 million degrees Fahrenheit (15 million degrees Celsius).⠀
As the temperature on its surface rises and falls, the sun boils and bubbles. Particles escape from the star from the sunspot regions on the surface, hurtling particles of plasma, known as solar wind, into space. It takes these winds around 40 hours to reach Earth. ⠀
The aurora (borealis in northern hemisphere and Australis in the Southern) or polar lights is formed when these charged particles emitted from the sun penetrate the earth's magnetic shield and collide with atoms and molecules in our atmosphere.⠀
These collisions result in countless little bursts of light, called photons, which make up the aurora. Collisions with oxygen produce red and green auroras, while nitrogen produces the pink and purple colors. This reaction encircles the polar regions of the earth and occurs at an altitude of 40-400 miles (65-650 km) in a zone called the "Auroral Oval."⠀
