Sono da poco tornata da un meraviglioso viaggio in Siberia, precisamente nella penisola di Yamal dai Nenets, e solo ripensandoci mi vengono ancora i brividi dalle tante emozioni che ho avuto la fortuna di vivere. Ho avuto la possibilità di vivere per diversi giorni a stretto contatto con due famiglie di Nenets e di potermi immergere totalmente nella loro cultura, nelle loro usanze, nella loro difficile vita. Ho avuto la possibilità di poterli osservare durante le loro faccende giornaliere, durante i loro lavori, durante la loro quotidianità e di vederli impegnati durante il festival delle renne, uno dei più importanti festival siberiani. Ma chi sono i Nenets? I Nenets sono una popolazione indigena della Russia, di origine samoieda, sono pastori di renne che da oltre 6.000 anni popolano l’estremo Nord della Siberia, dalla penisola di Kanin fino alla penisola del Tajmyr attorno ai grandi fiumi Ob, Yenisey e Pur. Ad oggi si contano solamente circa 45.000 Nenets, di cui circa 27.000 nella penisola di Yamal, e circa 500.000 renne da loro gestite. Per farsi aiutare nel loro lavoro selezionarono la razza di cane samoiedo, riuscendo a farla adattare alle avverse condizioni climatiche affinché fosse adatto al traino di slitte e al ruolo di cane pastore. ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ I’m black from a wonderful expedition in Siberia (Yamal peninsula) where I lived some days with the Nenets. Qual è il vostro cane preferito? Io ho un debole per il lupo cecoslovacco e per gli husky, di qualsiasi tipo. In particolare l’husky groenlandese ha rubato parte del mio cuore! Quello che vedete in questa foto è un cucciolo! La slitta trainata dai cani in Groenlandia è stata l’unico mezzo di trasporto, utilizzata anche per la caccia e per la pesca, per circa 5.000 anni ed è per questo che il dogsledding in Groenlandia è considerato un vero e proprio stile di vita. Il cane da slitta della Groenlandia è strettamente legato alle diverse razze di cani da slitta utilizzati dal popolo Thule in Siberia, Alaska e Canada, ed in particolar modo con il cane Eskimo canadese, entrambi discendenti del lupo artico. Polar plunge: You cannot go to Antartica without taking part in the Polar Plunge....Yep - that happened! For someone who constantly bitches about the cold, it was one thing to go to Antartica but to actually jump into the sea with all its ice and zero degree coldness ...! I lost all feeling in my feet for about 40 minutes! The guides were instructed to pull me STRAIGHT out as soon as my toe hit the water. I plunged straight in, fk me...! Spent the next hour or so tingling all over - this was the best day of the entire trip...we then had a bbq and danced on the deck to 80s music... @rocky.raquel evidence to follow..... Q. Shooting solo in such a harsh and remote environment, I run a light kit but the pack still ends up weighing 60 pounds. Nothing is easy down there, but the reward is so worth it!
