More front garden finds. This little broken swivel chair was dumped by its new owners after a house move and just needed a few nuts and bolts replaced to be as good as new again, now in my spare room. I’m no master of DIY and I only own a few rudimentary tools but there’s always YouTube or helpful friends, neighbours or relatives to plug the gaps in my knowledge or loan me something I need for my toolbox. There’s no secret or specialist skills required to furnish your home from junk finds except a willingness to have a go. Try your hand at sanding and painting, repairing, and thinking of a new purpose for things. It’s only nuts and bolts afterall and you can save yourself £££ whilst you learn some new skills saving stuff from landfill. I removed an off the shelf (dull) loo roll holder and made this lovely little chippy reclaimed wood shelf instead with so much character. It’s exactly the kind of thing to get Ma Shed commenting about “putting off potential future buyers with my junk finds” (we have no plans to sell anytime soon btw) ☺️. One of the quirks of our old house is the double doors into our bathroom. A throwback to when it used to be a small bedroom and bathroom side by side in a former life meant a previous owner joined them together. I love that they kept its original brass door knobs and lock and key. The calm before the school holidays. Before lie-ins and four in the bed and Nutella and peanut butter fingerprints on the bedsheets ☺️ I picked up this little side table for £5 one day when it was brown and unloved and decided to try my hand at mosaic using some plain thrifted white tiles. About 3 years later I finished it Now I love it. Don’t give up on those tricky projects that take forever. You’ll get there in the end and it will be so worth it.
