Niagara Mohawk Building. 1930-32. Bley and Lyman. I'm moving back into a regular rotation and, for now, moving on from Providence. I hope Liz Rochefort will forgive me. To make it up, I'm going to Syracuse, where I'll start with the Niagara Mohawk Building, a structure she said she loved. People, please follow @lizrochefort. The Niagara Mohawk was built at the Art Deco era's zenith. Bley and Lyman, a Buffalo firm, made use of black Vitrolite glass, which sparkles in the daytime. The piers and ornament add verticality, which is accentuated by recessed spandrels. The building caught the attention of @atlasobscura, which opined that the Niagara Mohawk belonged in the same conversation as the Chrysler Building. Windcrest sits on the top of Missionary Ridge in Chattanooga and was designed by architect Samuel Patton.
