Living with any kind of condition is hard but it's even harder when you have to deal with judgemental people who simply don't understand what you are going through.
To all my fellow warriors, you are amazing.

Oprah says it best: ‘Think like a Queen. A Queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another stepping stone to greatness.’ Between Jan 2019 till now I have NOT managed my stress levels well. The result? Psoriasis has crept back into my life with the random tiny spot appearing here and there. Life has been incredibly hectic and stressful and I’ve been trying to get it under control since April when the first #psoriasis spot appeared. After a lot of self reflection, I think my IG absence has also been about worrying about what everyone would think (which I normally never care about!!). I didn’t want people to hear this and automatically think ‘yeah see, psoriasis can’t be healed,’ and to then give up trying. I didn’t want to openly admit failure after being so vulnerable for so long in going against this crazy notion of ‘no cure’. Our minds can cure and heal and create all sorts of amazing things in our lives. This is the truth and I still stand by it. However, after reading Oprah Winfrey’s quote this morning I’ve reframed the past 6 months. I know exactly where I lost my way. I’ve learned a little bit more about myself and those around me AND I’ve now let go of what others may think. What other people think of me and my beliefs is none of my business . So, to channel @oprah ~ I’m adjusting my crown before I complete the leap onto the next stepping stone of greatness. #ineedabettercrown #yesicanraiseoneeyebrow #naturallyheal #psoriasis #psoriasiscommunity #authenticallyme #beliefiseverything #mindsetmatters #letsdothis #noneofmybusiness #autoimmunedisease #justdoyou
Poppy Challinor (@thegirlwithpsoriasis), 22, started to develop signs of psoriasis when she was 13. She noticed flaky skin on the top of her head, which her parents brushed off as dandruff. She attempted to treat it with a variety of shampoos but the itchiness became unbearable. “I remember being in classes at secondary school with the persistent itching, being so self-conscious of the white flakes falling from my head onto my navy blue blazer,” Challinor tells SELF in an email. With her worsening flaking and itching, Challinor’s doctor finally diagnosed her with psoriasis. “As a young 13-year-old girl the thought of having a skin condition, which there was little information about and no cure, was overwhelming. I remember being scared. I knew no one with psoriasis. It made me feel like an outsider.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are seven categories of psoriasis, each with their own set of effects on the body. Some of the more universal signs include red patches of skin covered with thick, silvery scales, dry, cracked skin that may bleed, and itching, burning, or soreness. In Challinor’s case, the psoriasis started on her scalp but eventually appeared on other parts of her body including her ears, face, back, arms, chest, legs, and stomach. By the time she turned 20, nearly 70 percent of her body exhibited psoriasis symptoms, with the exceptions of her hands and feet. After multiple treatments—such as topical creams and ointments, light therapy, and medication—and continued flare-ups, Challinor decided to share her story and bring awareness to the condition.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“As a girl obsessed with makeup and skin-care, I used to think of girls on beauty counters being flawless and having perfect skin,” Challinor says. “I want to show people that this is not the case—I often show off my imperfect skin and embrace my skin. I love to experiment with makeup and change how I look each day, but at the end of the day when I take my makeup off, I see my psoriasis all over my face and still love it just as much! I want to show people that we should embrace our skin and love the way we look.” For more on psoriasis, click the link in our bio. :@thegirlwithpsoriasis |:@taylynharmon
Skin is out today even In bad weather
Because wearing jeans or leggings hurts my psoriasis- put aloe Vera on it to help cool it down
If you see anyone in the streets with psoriasis instead of staring or laughing why don't you go up and ask them what it is.... We would all be happy to explain .

Wow can people stare anymore today?! Yes I’m having a major flare up day, I made a foolish mistake of using a regular moisturiser yesterday after I ran out of coconut oil and aloe Vera lotion and now my skin is red, spotty and on I have the skin disease Guttate psoriasis. It’s not pleasant and it’s a lot of work to manage as well as being extremely costly with meds, treatments and dietary needs but it’s something I’m learning to live with and I think I’m doing pretty well actually. If you stare because you’re intrigued then be kind enough to smile back when I smile at you, please do not look away in embarrassment. A smile and a little kindness goes along way to help with a psoriasis warriors healing process. All psoriasis suffers are brave warriors and deserve to be treated that way ✌
