The scores are in and the winner of our 9-stop month-long Japanese ramen crawl is...Tsuta in Tokyo!
For those who know us, they know we love elaborate food crawls to test the best of the best of our culinary indulgences! After our epic Australian Pastry Crawl in January, we knew we had to do a ramen crawl in Japan. With an 8-part meticulous scoring method, we slurped our way up and down this country trying all the styles and learning as much as we could along the way. Here are the 9 contenders and what we ate (in order of appearance):
1. Kara Shibi Miso Ramen Kishin (Hiroshima) - Miso with char siu pork and Szechuan peppercorn
2. Warito (Tokyo) - Tonkotsu-gyokai tsukemen (noodles separate from broth)
3. Ichiran (Tokyo) - Tonkotsu, very famous chain where you are isolated from fellow ramen slurpers
4. Ramen Jinsei JET (Osaka) - Thick tori-paitan (chicken-simmered broth) with char siu pork
5. Hishio (Shodoshima) - Shoyu tonkotsu torigari with local island seaweed and soy sauce
6. Ramen Santouka (Asahikawa, Hokkaido) - Shio with offal (pork intestines), original location of international chain
7. Teshikaga Ramen (Teshikaga, Hokkaido) - Miso and shoyu broth with fish stock
8. Tsuta (Tokyo) - Shoyu with three types of soy sauce and black truffle oil, Shio with four types of salt and white truffle oil, 1st Michelin starred ramen in world
9. Moeyo Mensuke (Osaka) - Shoyu with Kishu duck from Wakayama, and shellfish broth
Tsuta was incredible, but really all of these were amazing and we could’ve given Jinsei JET or Moeyo Mensuke the top honors as well! Thank you to every bowl for making our bellies feel so warm and delicious. Also shoutout to @niceladyinscarf recommendation of the movie Tampopo, a hilarious Japanese movie about the love of ramen, and perfect complement for our ramen tour!!!

Rasa Jelas enak ya!! Apalagi antrinya hampir 2 jam dengan suhu 6C , begitu merasakan kuahnya langsung Happy dong.. ada 2 rekomendasi ramen yang WAJIB, namanya Mutekiya Ramen dan Honmaru Black (kuahnya hitam) ✔️
