BOOK REVIEW . Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens: Mostly I loved this book—the nature descriptions, the silence and calm of her lonely existence, her survival. The story definitely kept my interest, but sometimes Kya spouting off poetry randomly bugged me: I mean, I love poetry, but that whole part of the story didn’t really make sense until the very end. It does read like a YA love story and I’m not sure which genre this fits into, but I still really liked it! I love strong female protagonists! Also, I cannot wait for the movie I hear it’s in the works. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ . Have you read it yet? What did you think? Especially of the ending?!? Did the dialect bother you at all? . Happy Wednesday! So I finished WITH THE FIRE ON HIGH by @acevedowrites last night and I loved it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5!!! . Honestly, despite the book being YA, it feels very adult. Emoni is such an intelligent character who may have some of the temperament of a teenager but knows herself, her worth, and what she wants. I love it. . The story follows a young woman named Emoni who had her daughter during the summer of her high school freshman year. Now it’s time for Emoni to make some big decisions about college, career, relationships, and her future and no decision can be made without considering her daughter. . It was such a great perspective. I don’t think I’ve read any stories of teen moms before and it really made me think. I posted more thoughts on this on the blog today so I hope you enjoy! Good morning ✨. I was doing some tidying downstairs and had Henry with me (aka the Tasmanian Devil). Then all of a sudden things got a little too quiet. I panicked... thought maybe he had fallen into the toilet or something, then discovered this sweet scene. My sweet Henry , taking a moment to slow down. . . This made me realize that I should follow his lead and do the same. I’m often busily going from one things to another; physically with tidying, activities, etc. But also mentally, constantly thinking of all the things on my to-do list and wondering when I will get them all done. Why does it actually take effort to just slow things down in our lives?
