Ein kleiner Bericht von meiner letzten (nicht allerletzten) Winter Session. Ausführlich über den ganzen Wahn gibts eine zusammen gefasste Version demnächst.
A huge congratulations to our good friend, Bernhard K Angler, who banked this colossal mirror of 67lb 15oz (30.8kg) from his syndicate water in Germany.
Bernie, who is one of our team of German consultants, has landed some huge fish this winter, but none bigger than this one, which came from a prebaited area of mixed-sized SLK boilies and particles, all coated in Betastim and SLK Hydro Spod Syrup.
At the business end, Bernie used a rig comprising an SLK wafter tipped with a Milky Malt wafter.
The same session also produced a 44lb 12oz mirror and a common of 30lb 14oz for Bernie.

An overnighter on Hucklesbrook Lake saw Karl Forrest tempt this lovely scaly 27lb 8oz mirror. The 32-year-old from Ferndown fished corn soaked in Fruitylicious Intense Booster over some S7 dumbbell freebies.
Karl added: “This fish is special to the members, as it is a memorial fish for one of the members who sadly passed away.” #dnabaits #redefiningquality #fruitylicious #secret7 #carp #carpfishing
After his successful week on Bows Fishing Lakes, which yielded 13 fish to 60lb 9oz, Dave Beech moved on to Pascale’s Lake and took another four fish, capped by a new personal best of 61lb 4oz.
It was a memorable week for more than just the personal best for Dave, as he also celebrated his birthday and was joined on the bank for a few days by good friend Iain Macmillan for a few days’ socialising.
Dave used Milky Malt pop-ups on Ronnie rigs over a mix of whole and chopped Switch boilies to tempt his fish.

A far cry from the busy banks of the country’s day-ticket fisheries, Steven Graham opted to spend his Bank Holiday weekend on a huge public water in the Netherlands…
Steven said: “I’m not one for fishing Bank Holiday weekends with the mass crowds and leads flying all over the place, so this Bank Holiday I thought I'd do something a bit different and decided on a Dutch dash to a public water of 10km in size. “With an AirBnB booked and three nights ahead of me, things didn’t start of well. Firstly, a police patrol boat and then the Dutch environment agency. In total I was wiped out four times by boats and smashed my shin on the boat all before midnight on the first night. No fish came the first night, or the second, so I was a bit worried of a blank heading into my last night. Then at 1am a screaming alarm resulted in a large cat around the 40lb mark that took a liking to the Bug. “Then at 5am the alarm burst into action again, thankfully this time with a carp on the end. Definitely not the best-looking one, but a welcome fish and even more welcome at 28lb 14oz. Both fish came on 18mm Bug bottom baits straight out of the bag with a good scattering of 18mm Bug freebies over the top.” #dnabaits #redefiningquality #thebug #dutchcarping #carp #carpfishing
Grant Winterson returned to the scene of his winter ticket, Sandhurst on the Yateley complex, and continued where he left off, taking two thirties to 32lb amongst a four-fish catch.
Speaking about the session, Grant commented: “Upon arriving at the lake. I was surprised to see that Pipes swim was free, and seeing though I had seen fish in that area, I didn’t waste any time in getting the gear round there and setting up. “After leading around, it was quite clear the weed was starting to come up, so fishing in the silt gullies at range seemed like the obvious place to start. Fishing my usual tactics of three rods on a spot tight over bait, utilising Secret 7 and Switch boilies, Secret 7 and Switch pellets, Krill Meal powder and Fish Hydro and Betastim liquid, with Milky Malts and PB pop-ups on the end, I ended up with four fish from five bites. I was absolutely made up with the session and can’t wait to get back again.” #dnabaits #redefiningquality #sandhurst #carpfishing #carp
Ryan Butt has been concentrating on Linch Hill’s challenging syndicate water, Stoneacres, this spring, working hard to locate fish and set trips, with relatively little water. However, all that hard work was eventually rewarded this week when he slipped his net under a stunning 40lb-plus common.
Known as the Coin Common and weighing in at 42lb 8oz, it was just reward for all Ryan’s efforts and, quite rightly, had him grinning from ear to ear!
A Switch hookbait fished over a small trap of matching freebies and particles was enough to tempt this immaculate fish into making a mistake.

The Linch Hill complex is home to some of the best-looking carp in the country, so there’s no wonder it attracts so many anglers at this time of year.
Despite so many quality fish to go at, Ian Farmer was in no doubt about the one he most wanted, and on his latest visit to Christchurch, he just so happened to bank it! Known as Scar and weighing in at a huge 46lb 10oz, it was a new UK personal best for Ian, and yet another victim of his ever-faithful SLK wafters.
Ian said: “It was a tough week, to be honest, with the majority of the fish grouping together at the shallow end of the lake and me being stuck down the opposite end. With no takes coming to the long rods in deep water whatsoever, the only clear areas I could find in amongst the Canadian were covered in lots of silkweed, so it was evident that although they were generally clear, they had not been fed on in some weeks. With that said, there were two clear holes in the weed along my margin, and after a few days of keeping them topped up with Crayfish Mini Mix pellets, fish started to come in and feed with more confidence with each visit. “Late one evening I had a mid-twenty mirror off one spot, followed by a major target fish of mine from the other. After an epic 30-minute fight at 3:30am, I managed to land one of the lake’s largest residents known as Scar at 46lb 10oz. A new UK personal best for me and a colossus of a fish from this venue and one I will never forget. Over the Crayfish Mini Mix pellets, I dropped my usual extra finely balanced 15mm glugged SLK wafter, and that’s what did the business. I’m made up!” #dnabaits #redefiningquality #slk #carpfishing #linchhill #christchurch #karpvissen #karpfenangeln #carp
