#themoreyouknow /so here’s another one of Anno’s pictures this time by the great ✨ @JulienBlancPhotographe ✨ I’ve had tons of questions about #steampunk since I’ve posted that #throwbackthursday a couple of weeks ago It is a retro-futuristic genre inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery, full of anachronistic technologies, alternative history of the 19th century's British Victorian era or American "Wild West », and every flavour of additional elements from the genres of fantasy, horror, historical fiction, alternate history, or other branches of speculative fiction, often making it a #crossgenre Some of the more famous authors of the genre are H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, closer to when the actual term of « steampunk » was created around 1980 were James Blaylock and K.W.Jeter (BTW, am I the only one super excited for Mortal Engines?! Anyone!! Guys!!!) and closer to us still are Philip Pullman, Gail Carriger, Floriane Soulas ... and so many others!!! But it isn’t just a literature genre anymore . It extend to any and all artistic styles and movement (illustration, fashion, jewellery, accessories, sculpture...) One of the basis of the movement is DIY and personal tinkering with pretty much anything you can get your hands on!
