Is it time to say goodbye to the 5050v1s? I got out for some morning testing on the HQ 5141 and compared them back to back to the 5050v1s. The Contenders 5050v1s weighing in at 4.5g 5141 weighing in at 4.7g Test platforms were using both 2306 2450kv hypetrains and 2700kv Wild Willys, Flightone MillivoltOSD/Spark32 running Dshot1200 with the 190 firmware SIM MODE on the stock tune. Winner I'll get right to the point! ON THIS TRACK, the 5141s consistently dominated by 1-2 seconds a lap at about the same throttle percentage. Feel The 5041 have a sharper feel in the corners and seem to respond quicker in fast maneuvers such as the split S 180 turn. Since I rarely got above 60% throttle this goes to show that they have more thrust on the low end despite less pitch. Pretty crazy what that .1 length can get you! Also, since the 5141 weighs a tad more than the 5050, I believe it must be the lower pitch in this case that is resulting in the quicker response time rather than its weight which is usually a big factor in prop response. Efficiency... They both came down at 3.65v p/cell around the 2:30 mark on the timer, but with the 5141s having faster lap times, I'd give the edge in efficiency to them. Recommendation No doubt about it, the 5141s are winning... But I want to be clear that the feel is different, and since the 5141 do seem to grip harder in corners and respond quicker, I would say the 5050 is still a smoother flying prop. For those focusing on consistency and being smooth, the 5050 or even the 5045 would probably be a more sound choice as the "softness" they provide can help prevent small errors. I noticed my lines were a little tighter than I wanted sometimes because I'd try to use the same lines as the 5050 but it was dropping into the turns harder with more grip, either causing me to lose some momentum or having to correct more often to not catch the inside of the gate. I'll skip the technical elements and try out a high-speed alternative to this track in the next day or so and see how they compare for those situations, but so far this prop is dominating my all-time favorite 5050v1s... #flightone #hqprops #quaddiction #neatoframes
