Happy Birthday J. Robert Oppenheimer "It is perfectly obvious that the whole world is going to hell. The only possible chance that it might not is that we do not attempt to prevent it from doing so." || #Oppenheimer is to have said, "We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita, 'Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.'" #history #violence #robertoppenheimer #science #manhatthanproject #humans #war #destruction #death #world #philosophy #psychology #spirituality #scripture #dark

مربوط به حرف های دکتر رابرت اوپنهایمر میشه که بعد از ساخت بمب اتم دید میشه دنیارو باهاش به نابودی کشوند.
متن و ترجمه :
We knew the world would not be the same
A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita
Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty
And to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says
Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds
I suppose we all thought that, one way or another

★Manhattan Project★
The Manhattan Project was a research and development undertaking during World War II that produced the first nuclear bomb. Nuclear physicist Robert Oppenheimer was the director of the Los Alamos Laboratory that designed the actual bombs. The Manhattan Project began modestly in 1939, but grew to employ more than 130,000 people and cost nearly US$2 billion. Over 90% of the cost was for building factories and to produce fissile material, with less than 10% for development and production of the weapons. Research and production took place at more than 30 sites across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
The immense destructive power of atomic weapons derives from a sudden release of energy produced by splitting the nuclei of the fissile elements making up the bombs' core. The U.S. developed two types of atomic bombs during the Second World War. The first, Little Boy, was a gun-type weapon with a uranium core. The second weapon was called Fat Man and was an implosion-type device with a plutonium core. The isotopes uranium-235 and plutonium-239 were selected by the atomic scientists because they readily undergo fission. Fission occurs when a neutron strikes the nucleus of either isotope, splitting the nucleus into fragments and releasing a tremendous amount of energy. The fission process becomes self-sustaining as neutrons produced by the splitting of atom strike nearby nuclei and produce more fission. This is known as a chain reaction and is what causes an atomic explosion.
The first nuclear device ever detonated was an implosion-type bomb at the Trinity test, conducted at New Mexico's Alamogordo Bombing and Gunnery Range on 16 July 1945. Little Boy and Fat Man bombs were used a month later in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, respectively.
