I’ve never been a type to really care about people’s opinions, but lately I’ve been feeling like I need to be a certain person in order to feel good enough, especially on social media. I feel like I need a smaller waist, prettier face, bigger lips, and brighter eyes. I feel like I should always dress perfect and fix my hair. But this is me. I have tattoos of serial killers on my leg. My eyes are tiny. My ass isn’t fat. I feel my best in a hoodie and some Adidas shorts. Sue me. I love who I am because I’ve been through a hell of a lot in my life and I’m still alive. I’ve loved, Ive lost, and I’ve accomplished so much in my life through all that, and I still have so much further to go. This is a reminder to anyone and everyone that you don’t have to look a certain way to be beautiful or successful. This is the honest scene at times, when trying to maximize space while working on rugs. Inspecting, tagging, measuring and the whole shebang. Takes up the entire area...and the entire day! And wrapping rugs back up is not nearly as fun as opening 'em, let me tell ya. ‍♀️ #RugLife

This is the first ivory ground Heriz I worked and played with, early on in my rug days. It was basically planted to fall on to my path, through my mentor, my uncle, the amazing rug expert. He was an eagle who had the eye for antiques and rugs. He spotted this rug, but never lived to see it come home. It is one of a few rugs that landed in my hands in this way, and each one cemented my path to continue the journey into the world of old rugs. Side note: I was at the time only a few months in on working with him and was kind of terrified to continue without him. I was not confident and my whole family was crushed from the sudden loss of my uncle. Some of you know my story, and some of you don't. I am just grateful to have this forum to share the love and knowledge he gifted me and to do what I do. Back to the main point, this all over pattern Persian has amazing age and artistic merit. I only realized later what a special champ it is and what rarity I had in my hands. Now, finding a Heriz like this is like searching for a needle in a haystack.
