Day 3 of #creatinghealthyhabits from @yogaclubbox is try this pose with Tribe Leader Crystal. I chose handstand because it’s something I really need to work on. After a bike ride and yoga class I felt weak, but I still managed to hold this pose! Not to the point where I’m ready to test my balance yet but it taught me that I need to do more handstand drills in my practice! . . Also really loved how crystal said you need to try this variation of handstand and make sure you are strong enough before headstand. The biggest mistake beginners make is kicking up to headstand and not having the strength yet . Jai Shri Ram Jai Jai Hanuman...... . . #hanumanasana also known as splits. One of the hardest poses to master. When I was a dancer, I used to force my self into the splits, without the flexibility to get them. I believe this is how I threw out my knee, forcing myself to do something my body was not ready for. Ever since my knee injury, I have not been able to do full expression ... but you know what that’s okay! Especially for yoga. . . In the story of Hanuman , he makes a great leap to save Ramas brother. Like me in the splits, Hanuman represents giving ourselves fully to an endeavor, but still accepting our weakness and honoring what we can and cannot do. . . Last sneak peak for my class Saturday. Gratitude to the 13 beautiful souls that joined me on my retreat this past week! I am still in a dream state. My first retreat in the books and it was an amazing success. Our theme was healing through the #koshas (the layers of our self) each day. We did a different type of yoga such as vinyasa, Hatha, restorative, yin, arm balances, Ayurvedic and even chanting! Our resort and yoga room had a beautiful view of the beach and even had our own private beach. I feel so much closer to all the wonderful ladies and men and so grateful they chose my retreat. . . Already dreaming of my next retreat!
