Ontem falamos sobre as CINTILOGRAFIAS RENAIS mais conhecidas e realizadas: ☢️1) Cintilografia RENAL DINÂMICA (DTPA): DTPA: é sigla do nome do radiofármaco utilizado para realizarmos o exame; PRINCIPAIS INDICAÇÕES: avaliação da função glomerular, avaliação da eliminação da urina, obstruções, dilatações da pelve renal e ureteres. PREPARO: apenas hidratação (atenção especial para os pacientes com insuficiência renal e insuficiência cardíaca, devem tomar a quantidade de líquido recomendada pelos seus médicos); QUAIS PACIENTES? Pacientes de qualquer idade podem realizar o exame, crianças podem ser acompanhadas pelos pais durante todo o exame, desde que as mulheres que acompanham não estejam grávidas. CONTRA-INDICAÇÕES: Grávidas. COMO É FEITO O EXAME? Após uma consulta, paciente será posicionado no equipamento que irá se aproximar da região abdominal do paciente (crianças as vezes é necessário maior fixação com faixas) na sequência é administrado na veia do paciente o radiofármaco, que não traz nenhum sintoma especial ao paciente, imediatamente após as imagens começam a ser adquiridas com duração em média de 30-60 minutos (varia com o serviço). Em alguns protocolos pode ser utilizado diurético, então durante o exame pode apresentar vontade súbita de urinar! IMAGEM: segunda foto exemplo de um exame NORMAL! ☢️2) Cintilografia RENAL ESTÁTICA/DMSA: é sigla do nome do radiofármaco utilizado para realizarmos o exame; PRINCIPAIS INDICAÇÕES: avaliação da função tubular, alterações corticais secundárias a infecções urinárias, má formações do trato urinário. PREPARO: o mesmo do DTPA. QUAIS PACIENTES? os mesmos do DTPA. CONTRA-INDICAÇÕES: Grávidas. COMO É FEITO O EXAME? Behind this door I got a scintigram yesterday. It was the third time in two days I had a radiological examination. It started with an MRI on Thursday just to control my breasts ( mammography, which is the most common method, doesn't work for me). Everything ok there BUT they saw something in my breastbone. Could be a metastasis, the radiologist said, I should contact my gynecologists for what to do next. Well, I was in shock as you can imagine. After several phone calls and messages my husband @doc_christian was able to get an appointment for a CT at the hospital, where I got my cancer surgery, for Friday morning. I didn't sleep the night before. So many things went through my head, what would be with my family and our dog if I wouldn't be around anymore, things I would have loved to do, places I would have loved to visit, regrets and wishes and that I didn't want to go...it was hell. Friday morning I spent at the hospital, after the CT the radiologists said they didn't think it's a metastasis but I should get a scintigram as well. Which I did. So, there IS something in my breastbone but it grows very slow( it had been there before the chemotherapy, but sometimes bone metastases survive), and it didn't glow, which a tumour would do. So they think it is be something harmless. I will have a check in half a year. My heart is light as a feather now, I am happy and relieved and will try to enjoy life every single minute. Even dumb things like washing dishes. I will try not to allow anybody or anything to get me down. I will not care about things that are not worth caring about. Life is precious. I will never ever forget this anymore. I will spread as much love and joy as I can. I finally got the results of last Mondays lung scintigraphy and I'm glad I can tell you that my doctors can see progress from the radiation therapy. The size of the main tumor and two of three metastases has reduced, not as much as we hoped for, but it's a start. There's a tumorboard on the weekend to discuss how to proceed, if the radiation dose gets increased or I additional therapies will be started. It's kind of a wait and see over the weekend again but I'm gonna focus on the good part of the results and make the best out of it. EXCITING NEWS!!! At Ascot Equine Vets we can now offer nuclear scintigraphy - commonly know as a ‘bone scan’ as a diagnostic modality! The basic principle of nuclear scintigraphy is the detection of gamma rays, emitted from the decay of a radionuclide injected intravenously into the patient, with a gamma camera. Bone that is stressed or remodelling due to injury will absorb a disproportionate amount of the radionuclide - this will appear as an area of increased uptake or a ‘hot spot’ on the gamma camera. This diagnostic modality will be of huge benefit to us in the work up of some of our lameness cases. We are also happy to accept cases from referring vets!
