It's so important to spend time alone. I find it odd how society has associated many negative connotations to the idea of oneself being alone. Stuff like lonely, loner, loser... It's not. Being alone is one of the best things you can give to yourself. When you're alone, you distance yourself from your social duty, your social responsibility, and societal expectations. You free yourself from the chains of society that bind you. It's only when this happens that you can start to think for yourself, what YOU want. You discover things that you didn't know because you were heavily under the influence of society. Whatever you discover when you're alone, be it things you like, goals for your future, crazy random bucket list goals, these are you. Because you want to do them regardless of how it is perceived by the world. That's why being alone is important.
Have you noticed how life seems to match how you feel?
Now, sometimes you are going along, just enjoying life and you get hit with a double-whammy of some kind. That is when you have the choice of how it goes from there. Do you succumb, think how tough life is, that the Buddha was right (life is suffering), or do you decide that life is just what you decide it will be? The meaning you choose to give to the events that occur in your life, the way you choose to feel, will create your life experience.
Be positive, feel positive, be the 'conscious' creator of your life.

We have a tendency to beat ourselves up when we go through challenging periods in life, we often blame ourselves, that what is happening to us could have been prevented if we made different choices, worked harder or had been paying more attention.
