Supperware boxes.
.
.
For those of you waiting for these boxes I'm happy to say I've finally got a few together and will be contacting those next on the list in the coming days.
These are a real labor of love for me and all told take a couple days to make. The lid locking mechanism is a special cut of old growth Ash, the pegs are of riven oak and the leather is veg tanned. I'm making no compromise.
They are, however, functional items. I use mine to take left overs to work or pack them full of salads and pudding and as they have leather seals no liquids leak out.

It's ok, I'm not thinking of murder here
.
I'm thinking, how on earth do I use this thing safely? .
@a.woodsman gave me this Mora Knife a couple of years ago and taught me how to use it without cutting my femoral artery
.
I used it to carve my bow drill spindle a few weeks back and last night I uploaded my first ever YouTube video sharing my fails and successes of starting fire with friction.

Check it out if you have five minutes and click that subscribe button for me will ya

This is probably going to be my last decent tomato harvest of the season Its okay though, it’s almost winter and in a few months I’ll be planting more seeds, and the cycle will start again. I’m already planning what tomato varieties I want to grow this summer. What are your favourites? A girl can never have too many tomato seeds
It's finally done! Yahoo!!

Beets, carrots, spinach, parsnips, kale, chard and radish seeds are in.
.
Cabbage, broccoli, onion sets and ground cherries are in too. Sunchokes, asparagus, rhubarb and strawberries are in the perennial beds.
.
This weekend we hope to get the trellises up and all of the plants that go in the keyhole gardens planted. Lots to do still but I feel like the hardest part is behind us.
.
Thanks to @foggyriverfarm for the amazing design and the support
I was going to mulch the perennial garden with wood chips this year, but an abundance of wild strawberry volunteers made an appearance instead. In fact, they seem to be doing an even better job at keeping weeds out than typical mulch. No weeds to be seen yet
.
.
Living mulches seem to be the way to go. Not only do they suppress weeds, but you can also get a harvest from them as well and because their roots are so shallow, they don't compete for moisture or nutrients at the same level as your other crops.
.
.
Here are a few other medicinal living mulches to think about incorporating into your herb garden:
.
.
Oregon grape
Lungwort
Thyme
Bearberry
Camomile
Wintergreen
Wild ginger
.
.
Also look around your local woods and wild space to see what's growing at ground level naturally. Chances are they'll be happy to live in your garden as well.

The only time we can get a decent photo of these little guys is when they're taking one of their siestas. They're always so busy otherwise, rushing around on their foraging rounds. They get most everywhere too, since the fences aren't tight enough to exclude them.
At nearly two months, they have now reached the stage of looking like little chickens. From the look of their combs, there's one definite cock bird, two definite hens and four that could still go either way.
