Who knew that lying on a giant pebble could be so comfy? Took myself on a trip of inspiration for three days in #Naoshima and #Teshima, two "art concept islands" in the Japan Sea developed at various points over the last thirty years (notably by renowned architect and former photographic subject of mine #TadaoAndo). These islands where #art meets #architecture meets #nature are truly remarkable! Art by the likes of #YayoiKusama or #JenniferBartlett is scattered in nature, and museums #BenesseHouse and #ChichuMuseum house original works by #JamesTurrell, #WalterdeMaria and five of #Monet's Waterlilies. The local bathhouse "I ❤️湯(yu-hot water)" is designed by artist #ShinroOtake with humour and charm. The neighbouring island, Teshima, has the most remarkable water sculpture I have ever seen, with water appearing alive and conscious seeping out of the concrete floor. It's my second trip here in as many years for a reason: simply exquisite. One of my favourite places on earth. Five ⭐️ if this island were an uber. . 오랫만에 눈이 시원해지는 추상화를 보았다!! . 구마모토 현대미술관에서 '신로 오타게'의 'BLDG' 전시회가 있어 들렀는데 오~~~~ 눈이 번떡! 심장이 콩닥콩닥! . 작가에 대해 알지 못했던 터라 별 기대안하고 가서 더 감동이 컸나보다. 작품 스케일과 거친 생동감에 넋이나가 한참을 푸욱 빠져 있었다 사진으로 담을 수 없는게 아쉽다ㅠ.ㅠ . 구마모토 마지막 날은 엄마를 위한 시간~ ㅎㅎ . . #구마모토현대미술관 #신로오타케 #shinrootake #구마모토여행 .
