Habt ihr euch jemals gefragt, #whomademyclothes? Welche Gesichter, Persönlichkeiten und Geschichten hinter jedem Kleidungsstück stecken? Nehmen wir als Beispiel das T-Shirt, das ihr gerade am Körper trägt: es ist durch die unterschiedlichen Hände unzählig vieler Einzelpersonen gewandert, bevor es in die euren gelangen konnte. Ein einzelnes T-Shirt ist eigentlich ein großes Gemeinschaftsprojekt von vielen verschiedenen Menschen, die sich auf jeweils einen Arbeits-Schritt spezialisiert haben. Und wer sind diese Menschen? Das Problem ist leider, dass viele Großkonzerne nicht ganz transparent sind, was ihre ArbeiterInnen* angeht, wer die nun wirklich sind, und wie es um sie steht. Denn es ist höchstwahrscheinlich, dass die vielen Hände, die sich an der Kreation eures T-Shirts beteiligt haben, zu Menschen gehören, die vielleicht selbst noch Kinder sind, unter den schlechtesten Bedingungen arbeiten müssen, und dafür viel zu wenig gezahlt kriegen. Das nennt sich Ausbeutung. Doch an diese Leute denken wir selten, wenn wir gerade beim Shoppen sind. Das süße Shirt von H&M, wo ganz groß "FEMINIST" draufsteht? Wurde wahrscheinlich von einer Frau gemacht, die dafür zu wenig gezahlt kriegt, als dass sie davon leben könnte, aber von dem Geld nicht nur sich selbst, sondern ihre ganze Familie ernähren muss. Also doch nicht mehr so feministisch, so ein Shirt zu kaufen. Im Gegenteil. Etwas, das ich selbst Jahre lang unterschätzt habe, ist die Macht unseres Geldes. Mit jedem Euro erhalten wir die Chance, unsere Zukunft zu formen. Mit den Produkten, die wir kaufen, bestimmen wir selbst, was wir unterstützen und fördern wollen. In einer Welt, in der Geld so eine große Rolle spielt, sind das unsere wichtigsten, basisdemokratischen Möglichkeiten, unsere Stimme zu vergeben. Und ich, persönlich, unterstütze lieber lokale NäherInnen*, die ihr Herzblut in ihre kleinen Geschäfte stecken, als Großkonzerne, die ihre ArbeiterInnen* ausbeuten. Und da kauf ich mir auch lieber eine größere, teurere Sache, also viele kleine billige. Aber schlussendlich ist es eure Entscheidung, wem ihr eure "Stimme" gebt und in welche Richtung ihr unsere Welt damit formen wollt. [Illustration von @odilebree]
