The fog is beginning to clear and things are looking fantastic. Every Wednesday (hump day) we celebrate amazing women in the world of babywearing and parenting. Our Hump Day Heroines!

This week’s hump day heroine is Tania from @whentaniatalks Tania lives with her husband Dan, her 1 year old Daughter Elise and their two rescue cats Mylo and Freya. Tania is a a babywearer and blogger and was recently featured as one of Mother and Baby’s Top 20 influencers - a feature which is well deserved.

Tania has lived with chronic illness since she was 11 and a few years ago she became an ambulatory wheelchair user. On good days Tania is able to do short amounts of walking meaning back carrying is possible at home - but to be able to leave the house Tania needs to use a wheelchair which she describes as her freedom and independence. Tania has been writing her blog for 5 years now and it has the overriding theme of living positively with chronic illness & disability alongside parenting and babywearing. having been largely housebound during pregnancy and unable to travel to visit a sling library Tania’s early babywearing attempts were challenging. Because of this experience she volunteers as a peer supporter with The Happy Sling Lady and has set up regular sling meets in Nuneaton to help others have a much more positive experience. Tania is also in the process of setting up a sling library in the area which you can follow @whentaniatalksbabywearing.

It definitely seems to be a growing trend that bloggers are moving away from the fake ‘Insta worthy’ lives that are unattainable for most of us and instead writing much more honestly. Tania is one of these writers who are not afraid to talk about both the highs and lows and in doing so are changing the way women think about themselves - for the better and empowering them along the way. For this reason Tania is this weeks Heroine.

Good evening beautiful people It’s European Babywearing Week 2019 . A week to celebrate and shout loudly about the joy it brings to families. The theme yesterday was ‘The Joy of Communication’. (I fell asleep last night before getting chance to post!) When you carry your baby in a carrier (or in arms) you are more likely to talk to your baby, helping them to develop their language skills. On the flip side, I’ve found that through carrying my baby, I have had the opportunity to communicate with people more. Today is #DisabledAccessDay, so it seems the perfect time to let you know that this year's @thewrapshow 2019 continuing professional development programme will include a session on "Accessibility for Sling Libraries and Consultants".
