I’m really enjoying these 70 degree days we're having and it's giving me some good time to spend outside with Snairwin! . Snairwin is a faerie land snail. While they may have a reputation for being pests in the garden, snails actually can serve an important role in the ecosystem, though I warn you that it may evoke mixed emotions. They eat very low on the food web, with a diet mostly of leaf litter and rotting vegetation. Many animals that are higher in the food chain rely on land snails as part of their diet for a good source of calcium and protein. A great diversity of animals feed on snails, including insects, snakes, foxes, birds and more! Birds in particular rely heavily on snails as a high calcium source so they can have adequate nutrition to produce their eggs. . In the Trillium Forest, Faerie Snails have special abilities as we've talked about, so they are not generally consumed or considered prey. They have a particularly close relationship with Mushlings, and they serve as their primary means of transportation around the forest. The magickal properties of Faerie Snail slime is something the Little Witch and I are just now starting to research. For snails, their slime is more that just something that helps them glide along a surface. It actually helps them stick to things as well! Ever see a snail climbing vertically up a tree? Snail slime is how! . I'm experimenting with using Faerie Snail slime to create potions to create a similar effect, but that can carry any weight. I'm in the process of developing a concoction to help me climb trees, cave walls, waterfalls, and really anywhere I could be ascending to further my research in the Trillium Forest! If my hypothesis works, I could paint some of the slime potion on my shoes and just walk up any surface I need to! . Snairwin will be up for adoption by auction starting tomorrow at 8 PM EST and will last for 24 hours, concluding on March 31 at 8 PM EST!
